Educational and Community Supports

Educational and Community Supports (ECS) is a research unit located at 1571 Alder Street in Eugene, Oregon, within the University of Oregon’s College of Education. With a focus on expanding the use of evidence-based practices and systems to improve outcomes for children, youth, and adults, especially those with disabilities, ECS has been at the forefront of educational research for over 50 years.

Our researchers are dedicated to creating effective learning environments that support all students, constantly pushing boundaries and asking new questions to evolve with the ever-changing field of education. Current projects include positive behavior interventions and support (PBIS), family-centered interventions, research methods, and early intervention.

Collaborating at the national, state, and local levels, ECS works with educators, students, families, and community members to tackle complex educational issues. By forming true partnerships, we are able to achieve stronger and more sustainable solutions together.

As part of our commitment to making expertise accessible, ECS offers a range of services including training events, coaching, family visits, and technical assistance. Our goal is to empower individuals to make data-driven decisions in real time, with online applications that provide direct access to information for better outcomes.
