Cannon Beach Vacation Rentals by Meredith

"I have rented from CBVR for a number of years, always with very pleasant results. I have stayed in the same house multiple times and have reservations for the same place next year. They became part of Meredith Lodging during this time and service has decreased. When I made the latest reservation on June 29 of this year, for next summer, Meredith Lodging somehow charged me twice for the initial fee, an overcharge of $3500 or so. Trying to get them to refund the overcharge has been difficult. I have called over 15 times, and each time a helpful customer service person tells me that they will reach out to Accounting to tell them of my issue. Never once have I gotten a call back, nor any acknowledgement or response to several emails. I have given them my bank statement as proof with no response."

"Do not book with this company (Cannon Beach Vacation) or Meredith Lodging which is the partner/parent company. I made a reservation through the Cannon Beach Vacation site which did not provide a confirmation #, but of course was charged for half the total amount. Within a couple weeks I needed to cancel my reservation which was four months from our booking. I was refunded less than half of my deposit. They charged me 30% of the total reservation fee even though I cancelled FOUR months in advance. Bottom line... read the fine print or better yet do NOT book with this company."

"The views from the beach home were spectacular, but the cleanliness of the place left a little to be desired. We are expected to clean up after ourselves but it would be nice if the host put some effort into it too. The home smelled of cats. Cat urine more specifically. Dishes were greasy to the touch and all had to be rewashed. Bathroom sink was plugged. The worst was that mice got into the food we brought."

"We just had a week long stay with our family in the Windjammer home in Cannon Beach. Cannon Beach Vacation Rentals was very good to work with. The home has a beautiful ocean front view of Haystack Rock. It has nice windows for beach and sunset viewing. The home itself is in disrepair. For the price we paid we were disappointed. Our daughter said it was more like glamping.. It is a very old home. We knew this upfront however did not realize so many thing were broken and not working. Refrigerator was not cooling correctly, tiles were broken in the floor, shower was plugged up, light bulbs were not replaced, window upstairs was broken. We finally took the window off. One of the toilets was not cleaned and was disgusting. The company did come and clean it and tried to fix the refrigerator and the shower. This is also is not a good home for handicapped as the stairs would be too hard to navigate. The best thing was the view and location. We would not recommend this home until there are repairs made and kept up better. We would not stay at this house again."

"The folks in Cannon Beach Vacation Rentals are the nicest people to work with. We rented a beach front home (The Lighthouse; see some of our posted pictures here) and it was immaculate upon our arrival. They called us up about 2 hours before the scheduled time for entry to tell us the home was ready and we could occupy early. Wow! That's really unusual. We called about the need for some help in getting the DVD player to work, and they showed up in 10 minutes to show how to operate the system. These are the very best folks in Cannon Beach to get you a rental."
