"I have a strange reaction going to the eye doctor. I get physically sick. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been. I explained all of this to the woman that answered the phone when I finally got the courage to call and schedule an appointment. I called them on recommendations from friends and coworkers. Yes, I have a full time job, yes I carry my own insurance. These are things I told her. Because of the very good referral I actually was willing to pay out of pocket if they didn’t accept my insurance if it meant I wouldn’t get sick. This woman proceeded to say the following. “We Don’t take STATE insurance.” “Well is this YOUR insurance? Or are you trying to use someone else’s?” “Well if you want to pay out of pocket you need to know that it’s really expensive and you’ll have to pay up front, it could even be as much as $100” I let her know again that I do have my own job, my own insurance and my own money but I’d be spending it somewhere else. Thanks for making me so uncomfortable that I will for sure not go to YOUR office."

"Affordable Family Eyewear worked HARD to help us resolve our broken glasses. They took our prescription and frames from another eye doctor, and put in the correct lens WITHIN HOURS. My child was so happy with everyone who helped us, and she was THRILLED to get her glasses replaced so fast. Thank you so so much. I appreciate everything you guys did!"

"I am only writing this review to save someone else from the treatment my child and I received at the hands of Affordable family eyewear. Dr. Anderson and Cristy are amazing and incredibly good with kids. It’s unfortunate that he employees people who are not. When I called to make an appointment Karen did the scheduling. When it came to my insurance she huffed, got frustrated and said I “could handle it when I got here”. Upon arrival at my daughters appointment Karen was rude; stating multiple times I had no insurance. When I questioned her about my insurance she stated “we don’t take THAT kind of insurance”. While working with the optical side this sentence was uttered several more times, as well as judge mental looks and a general displeasure. It was not until I was leaving the building that I was informed Affordable Family Eyewear does not accept state insurance. I informed them I had private insurance, not state insurance. This caused multiple people to tell me I was not correct, and inform me again they would not be billing and the glasses would be ready within 48 hours. The 48 hours passed and I called and spoke with a woman, who angrily said they were “doing me a favor” by billing my insurance. If I wanted my child’s glasses I would need to pay the $390 out of pocket. This has delayed my child’s glasses by weeks, only to find out they did take my insurance for the exam. Karen failed to bill the correct insurance due to her own mistakes, judgment, and assumptions. Karen’s feelings on individuals with “state insurance” is deplorable, and she should not be working with the public. I feel incredibly bad for the other individuals she has treated this way, and she continues to behave like this at her job."

"Dr. Fregger has been my eye Doctor for the last 3 years since I moved back to Fort Walton. Great service and always happy with the speed of getting in for an appointment. I would highly recommend him and his great staff for any of your needs in eye care and glasses."

"Family Eye Care is a very pleasant visit every time! The staff is very professional and always make you feel welcomed. Dr Fregger gives a thorough examination in a relaxing atmosphere. Oh, and have a question ready for him, he likes to answer questions! I moved 25 miles from the area four years ago and still travel to Family Eye Care for my exams. I can sum up their customer service with three Cs. Courteous, Care and Compassion."
