"*Updating and downgrading* My girl wasn’t strong enough to fight her preventable kidney infection. The carelessness of Dr Hintner is devastating. I will no longer be taking any family pets to Bandon Vet ever again. Pet parents, please be vigilant. I’m giving one star for the staff, who is lovely, and one star because several years ago, my cat had pancreatitis and they nursed him back to health. HOWEVER. Six weeks ago I was visiting family and I took my other 19 year old cat with kidney disease to Bandon Vet because her ears and teeth were bothering her, and they did a senior panel - bloodwork, urinalysis, the works. While Dr Hintner called me with the results and confirmed she has kidney disease, she neglected to tell me that my cat also had a UTI. Fast forward six weeks, she lost weight and wasn’t eating much. Took her to my usual vet in Portland and showed them the bloodwork done in Bandon and turns out, the results showed she had a UTI that Dr Hintner did not bother to mention to me. Now, the UTI has progressed to a kidney infection. Had Dr Hintner pointed this out obviously I would have treated it then, but I’m not a vet, I don’t know how to interpret cat lab results. My old kitty is now on a long course of antibiotics which could have been easily prevented if Bandon Vet had told me about the UTI and treated it back in November. My poor girl, I hope she’s strong enough to make it. I’m incredibly disappointed in the carelessness of Dr Hintner and Bandon Vet."

"terrible. place we are preferred customers I have a German shepherd!! they never make an effort to see him between appointments when he has an issue comes up!!!! Unless you make an emergency appointment!! my opinion. They have no compassion at all for animals. Crazy!!!!"

"I have taken my purebred German Shepherd here a few times for ear infections, blood tests, and wellness checks. Very happy with Doctor Baum and Doctor Hittner and I wholeheartedly recommend both for their generous time and professionalism. Both veterinarians always listened to me and I ended up learning something in the process. My dog does not get along with other dogs. And the people at Bandon Veterinary Hospital are very accommodating about this, making sure no other dogs are present when he enters the building. Prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider the shortage of veterinarians we have in this area. All the ingredients for five stars in my book! *****"

"I travel a lot with my dog, Bella. We were out of town when Bella started having seizures. Three different vets took blood and none found a cause. The seizures happened every few weeks, sometimes several in a row. I had them all send a copy of the blood tests to Doctor Baum. When we got home I took Bella in to see Doctor Baum. He wanted to run a blood test and I asked him if he'd received the blood tests. "I did," he replied, "and they didn't test for thyroid." It turned out that her thyroid was low and he prescribed Soloxine. That did the trick. Dr. Baum has done knee surgery on both hind legs and she can run and romp better than other dogs her age (8 1/2 years). The pandemic has put every business in Oregon under tight restrictions and dogs can be infected. I know Dr. Baum as a kind and competent vet and the distancing protocol he has to follow has been the cause of the few negative reviews Bandon Veterinary has received. I would feel just as distressed as the people who complained and I don't fault them for their reactions. Dogs have a way of getting deep into your heart. I'm 70 years old and it's possible that we have about the same amount of time left. I hope we both go at the same time so neither of us has to grieve the other."
