"Second edit...this hospital has earned all 5 stars. This place used to be so substandard that it was mind-blowing. They have really turned around. I do not trust the medical field after losing my leg due to medical malpractice. I trust these people. They have an OUTSTANDING staff of doctors and nurses that genuinely care about people. From check-in with security, registration, triage, testing, diagnoses, treatment, and discharge, it is all top-notch. Edit: I've got nothing but good things to say about the wound care nurses at LUH. They are all so kind, knowledgeable and focused on patient care. The rest of the hospital is worse, is that's possible, than the way it was when I made the first review. It's horrible. Patient privacy doesn't matter. I sat and listened to a woman's medical history, what was going on with her at the moment, and the fact that a rectal examination was in order. I listened to the doctor assigned to her call another doctor and discuss her medication list. Professionalism is lost on this hospital. They misdiagnosed my husband in the past and what I've been through with these blood clots over the last four months, I was dismissed as quickly as I walked in because they didn't have staff available. Ridiculous. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original review: The only reason I bother to give one star is the stellar performance of the staff that checked my husband in last night. The nurses were super nice, but lacked knowledge. When asked what a sphygmomanometer is, neither were able to tell what is was, though one thought she might have used one in another department. The doctor was arrogant and cocky with no bedside manner to speak of. He acted as if he were above answering questions, though my husband and I both have extensive medical knowledge. My husband's pain was dismissed and not addressed at all until I insisted and then wasn't addressed appropriately. In the end, the idiot doctor sent my husband home with a potential bowel obstruction and an appointment with a surgeon. I have given up completely on the medical profession, but I will fight until my last breath for proper care for my husband. Blood clots and bowel obstruction may be pre-existing, but it doesn't make it go away because it was there before he got there. It has to be treated and he and I have continuously been denied proper medical care by cocky, uneducated, indoctrinated people. Just an update, he still wasn't ok the next day so I took him to BAH. They kept him for two days. Amazing what happens when someone knows what they are doing."

"It was a few years ago, but I was admitted to Emergency with (unknown to me at the time) a gangrenous gallbladder, in incredible pain. The surgeon operated on me successfully, and the nursing staff all took wonderful care of me. Nothing but good things to say about this hospital!"

"No ER visit is a good time, but the Nurses, imaging technitions and attending physician, here made my late night visit very positive experience. In excruciating pain, scared, and concerned about a small hospital I arrived with a considerable concern that I would get the detailed care one needs at a time like this. Soon after I arrived they eased my concerns and addressed my condition quickly and very thoroughly, eased my pain and demonstated an impressive protocol based assessment of my condition while easing my pain and helping me feel comfortable. Unfortunately, I've been to ER rooms across the globe and this one ranks among the best in my years of unfortunate experience. A sincere THANK YOU to the Doctor and staff who treated me through the night, sent me home feeling much better and even called a day later to see how I was doing."

"I had to have a procedure down in the surgery department at the hospital. I cannot say enough good things about how I was treated not just by the surgical team but also during the tests leading to the surgery. From the administrative area that processed my insurance and started my chart to the surgical nurses all were fantastic. I really want to thank the surgical nurses Nicole, Toni and Sara. Nicole led me through the pre-operative instructions and made sure I understood everything. Toni checked me in and was both personal and efficient, I didn’t even feel the poke for the IV. Sara was with me before and after the procedure, she made sure I was relaxed, warm and unafraid. I know Dr Lyons is retiring soon but I really appreciated his easy going style and his jokes. I cannot say enough about Dr. Lawson. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a surgeon I felt listened and took his time to answer questions as much as he did. Kudos to the entire staff and the hospital."
