"Oh man—where do I start? My parked car got hit, and I took it to Tonkin Collision Center because I had previously gotten my oil changes at their next-door Honda shop a few times. But I didn’t do my homework and read their repair shop reviews, and wow, did I learn a valuable lesson. For some minor body work and suspension repair, they had my car for 7 weeks—no joke. Over this period of time, I called and emailed for updates and often had trouble getting an informed reply on the status of my vehicle. Three times, I was told, “We’ll have your car ready by ____.”, only for another week to pass by. When it finally was ready to pick up, they told me my car battery was bad and needed replacing—a tech said there was a warning notification on the dashboard. (I had zero battery troubles leading up to this.) They gave me a price quote, and I approved the new battery purchase. Later, they called me and said they misquoted the price and that it would cost more. Fine, whatever—just give me my car. When I picked up the car, lo and behold, there was indeed a battery notification on my car's dashboard—for the fob remote battery, not the car’s. I had already paid for it at this point. Did I mention they tried to upsell me on several other things I didn’t need? Yep. "No, guys, I don’t need new wipers—these Bosch blades are only 7 months old." When I first drove away from the shop, my car handled a bit differently than it used to. The second time I drove it, my front tire completely disintegrated on the highway, and I barely avoided getting hit by the traffic flying past me on both sides. They didn’t think to replace the tires after they were directly impacted by a collision, apparently. When I initially picked up my car, Tonkin told me to bring it back if I had any issues with the repairs, but after their ridiculous delay time the first time around for what turned out to be a poorly repaired vehicle, you couldn’t pay me to turn my car back over to them. I took it to a new shop instead. I didn't even have the car back long enough to inspect the paint and body panel work they performed, so I couldn't even tell you whether that part of the repair job was done satisfactorily. Oh, the icing on the cake: I was sent a Satisfaction Survey email after this happened, to which I indicated a negative response. The survey then said, “Your satisfaction is important—we’ll have someone in touch with you within 24 hours.” That was more than a week ago, and I’ve still not been contacted.

Hopefully, my notes here will provide them with everything they need to know about my experience at their shop. Bottom line: please—do not take your car here. You will regret the experience entirely and kick yourself for not researching why they have one of the lower ratings of repair shops in the Portland area on Google Reviews."

"I’ve taken my car here to be fixed for two separate accidents. Both repairs were done very well, I’m kind of a perfectionist and I couldn’t find any areas that didn’t look like new. The employees have always been friendly and quick to take my calls and answering any questions. Even when I went to pick up my car, and the insurance had screwed up so I had to unexpectedly pay a $500 deductible… needless to say I was an unpleasant jerk, they still treated me with kindness and respect, especially Mason in the repair shop. I would definitely recommend taking your car here for repairs."

"Probably wouldn’t recommend any friend to get their vehicle repaired here so I want to make this post. Delays are fine but there needs to be communication to let the customer know. Paint quality was very poor: dirt trapped under paint, no paint in some areas, and paint drips. ‘We are human’ and ‘Covid delays’ excuses are still used here. Marcia was pretty good and we wish we had her the entire time but for most of the experience it was very unideal."

"We took our Honda in for minor repairs to front bumper area .they called and said our car was ready for pickup so we took back our car rental .when went to pickup up we were told that are car was not ready the gentleman who gave us that information was fired. They asked that we wait two hours and they would finish putting the bumper on and have it ready after two hours. They said they had some other issues and we said will just pick it up in the morning they stated Sure that’s good. We will get that done for you, the car was not ready the next morning. We went to pick it up the following day, we picked up our keys and went out to drive the car, and they are not finished an important part on front grill, just wonder what else is missing. I would recommend you take your car anywhere besides Ron Tonkin Honda collision center."

"I drove my van there to get body work done. They took my van apart and couldn't get it back together again. They told me I need to have my van towed off their shop because it's no longer street-legal. On top of that, they charged my insurance company $1,350 for storage (11 days) and to tear down my van."
