"I was working with a periodontist to figure out why my lower canine teeth were rotating out of my gums. He sent me to Dr. Steven Black. When I went in for my appointment the staff took photos and Dr. Black came in to talk to me. He said the permanent bonded retainer I had was causing the movement. He said it was rare but he has seen it happen to two of his previous patients but mine was very serious and braces wouldn’t be able to fix it and I would most likely need to get it extracted. He confirmed this diagnosis with my periodontist and everyone was on the same page. I did end up extracting that tooth. When I called to ask for an after visit summary or just a written letter with that diagnosis that the bonded retainer caused movement, things got very strange. Melissa and Cindy were the two staff members I was communicating with the most and they both told me I must’ve miscommunicated what he said and that they will not give me any documentation stating that he said that. I said what was the reason then for my tooth moving so drastically and getting it removed if he didn’t tell me so? They could not answer. At my next periodontist appointment I confirmed with the Dr that he said the wire caused the movement and he said “that’s what he told me.” The next few days I was able to pick up my medical forms from their office and when I did Melissa said “you are dismissed as a patient here.” Because I wanted documentation stating what Dr. Black said? The whole time they would not allow me to communicate with him. How can you diagnose someone and then say that’s not what you said and not even call or schedule an appointment to clarify? When I told Melissa I would leave a review about this to warn future patients she threatened me and said “don’t burn your bridges.” I don’t know what is going on here but this Dr. Black is not trustworthy and does not know how to communicate with his patients. I believe he was scared of being held liable for that diagnosis for some reason. All that was on my medical forms was my conversations with them over the phone, to which they made me seem like an angry crazy person when they were the ones that were very sketchy and covering up for him."
