"I enjoy the flexibility of NCL for making a schedule to suit my mood and desires as I go"
"I am not a novice cruiser. I've been taking cruises over the last 25 years with multiple carriers and this "Free Style" cruise was the most "self" service cruise I've been on. New cruisers will think I'm spoiled but regular ones will understand. This is a comparison from experience on cruises, not a lifestyle expectation. From our room , dining, activities, shows and drinks this was the least customer service oriented experience I've had in two decades. The issues are minor in scope but standout in comparison to others like Princess and Celebrity. The room itself fine. The bathroom roomier than average but had narrow balcony. Internet is super slow, if at all working. Paid extra just to text within my own group but it took so long to go thru we were chasing eachother. The call feature NEVER worked. Glad i didnt upgrade my internet ($107-$179) for a week. I had to go three floors just to order a chocolate martini from a martini bar, even though the bars on the floor I was on had both the ingredients and glassware to do so. I think Jose Mercado at the Atrium bar was the nicest and most helpful person we came across, however. The staff didnt seem as cheerful as ive seen in years; covid, bad pay, bad employers, just tired? I talked to one staff member who was on a 9 month contract but I guess that's a choice. There was a chef in Tepanyaki that was really entertaining. Other than that the rest of the staff was not very memorable, good or bad. Certain activities should have been in other rooms not being used to handle more people instead of smashing everyone in. The service to our state room, buffet, on board shopping and primary dining was as basic as it has ever been. Many amenities included on other cruises are "added" charges on Norwegian. I've never felt more nickle and dimed on a trip. I feel for any new elderly cruisers trying to navigate this for the first time. They had way too many food venues with rules that took up space around the ship making things feel more cramped that similar sized ships. Even had to chase down my picture order our last night, even that was done wrong and they couldn't correct it over the phone. It was a trip of "lines". Don't think I will do Norwegian again, if there's another choice"
"We have cruised with Norwegian for the past three years and are taking a 4th trip again this year. The staff is very energetic and always available to make your cruising experience pleasurable. The entertainment is good and you will never be bored as there is always something going on to keep you busy throughout each day. If relaxation is what you're looking for there are plenty of options for that as well. If fine dining is your thing you can't go wrong with Cagney's steakhouse, I highly recommend it."
"NCL. You used to be so good. Now like a slack tide.... you're out to sea. This cruise was just bad. Food. Very boring and the service which is usually very good. Was absent. I will not be back until I see some other choices. Sorry but your nickel and dime hidden fees suck. (What your onboard account every day you will thank me). This boat needs a refresh. It's not that old but just looks dated. Boring is the new word on NCL. The entertainment was horrid. Six is boring and uninspired. Maybe on Broadway it's better? There were two awesome acts. Rob (one man show) and the 876 Konnect Band were excellent. The others.... BAD ! Like even for a side street casino in Vegas. The piano bar was lame. No energy."
"We sailed on the Breakaway in January. The itinerary was very good. The bartenders at the atrium bar were fabulous! They really keep it clean, quick and friendly. Our favorite bar by far! The food was good with good specialty dining options. I would give them 5 stars but they closed the pool bar too early (before 10p) and the put up all the upper deck seats at dusk."
