The Peninsula Village Historic District is a charming institution located in Peninsula, Ohio, United States. Established in 1824 along the Cuyahoga River, the village thrived as a shipping center and hub for canal boat construction. With the arrival of the Valley Railway in 1880, Peninsula became a bustling community, reminiscent of an Eastern seaport. However, as the automobile industry grew, canal and railway traffic declined, leading to a period of quiet in the village.
In the late 1960s, the Peninsula Valley Heritage Association was formed to preserve the historic structures of the village. Today, Peninsula is an island surrounded by the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, boasting well-preserved 1800s buildings with various architectural styles. Visitors can explore the National Historic District, browse the collections of the Peninsula Library & Historical Society, shop, dine, walk or bike along the Towpath Trail, ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, or hike in Deep Lock Quarry Metro Park.

"Bad experience in this town.Peninsula gave out 9,000 tickets in the first six months they had a photo speed camera. Their own staff say they have had problems with the cameras. The prosecutor says you cannot protest. You will not win. Locals say they are told to ignore the tickets. What kind of justice is this? They made $500k in the first six months and have only 562 residents. I would suggest not visiting Peninsula."
