About the Business

Mentor Old Council Hall

Located at 7250 Jackson Street in Mentor, Ohio, the Mentor Old Council Hall has a rich history dating back to 1856 when it was originally built as Mentor Christian Church. It later served as Mentor Township Hall and was frequented by former U.S. President James A. Garfield, who was also an ordained minister.

Today, this beautifully renovated historic building offers an air-conditioned hall with a warming kitchen, perfect for hosting parties, showers, weddings, and other events for up to 100 people. To reserve the space, please contact (440) 974-5720 and visit the Parks, Recreation & Public Lands Department at 6000 Heisley Road to sign a rental contract in person during weekdays from 8AM to 5PM.

Please note that there is a 4-hour minimum rental requirement and a $400.00 security deposit is due at the time of signing the contract. Additionally, if alcohol will be served at the event, renters must pay a $35.00 alcohol permit fee, increase the security deposit to $800.00, and hire an off-duty police officer for every 200 guests attending. The police officer must be scheduled 4-6 weeks in advance, paid in cash at the beginning of the rental, and remain on-site for the entire event. The fee for the officer is $40.00 per hour. All activities, set-up, take down, deliveries, and clean-up must be completed within the rental period.

"Very worth the rental price! Lovely historical charm with pictures dating back hundreds of years ago. Large warming kitchen was perfect for our party of 60 people. Highly recommend!"

"This is one of the smaller rental facilities provided by the city, but it is nice. There is a small kitchen, and tables and folding chairs are provided. I imagine it's good for smaller events like birthday parties, baby showers, and small weddings. And, if you play Pokemon Go or Ingress, there are some stops that you can get without even having to leave the building!"

"Park in the right spot and you can hit 3 Pokemon rest stops. Just out of range across the street is a gym as well."
