"My wife had thyroid surgery here. To my surprise everyone was great! I knew the Doctor was nice. It’s the staff I was unsure about. Doctor Varela has operated on my wife twice now. He doesn’t come off as arrogant. Which in my experience is rare with Doctors. The staff was so nice! They took good care of my wife and made me feel comfortable. I highly recommend them over any Providence!"

"The nursing staff is great. My dad has (unfortunately) had to go in to Legacy several times, and I've had nothing but positive experiences with the nursing staff. They are so attentive and kind and give updates when they can. However, the communication from providers to family members is TERRIBLE. My dad had a follow up CT and the neurosurgeon that he was to have a follow up was SO insistent that he go to the ER. We get to the ER, and my dad sat there for 2 hours because the neurosurgeon that was so insistent that he go to the ER didn't put in orders for next steps, so the ER staff was trying to figure out why my dad was there. THEN they admitted him and said he needed a procedure, but it wasn't an emergency so he ended up having to stay two days before having the procedure. There were no updates given to us during his procedure, and then we found out he had actually been out for about 2 hours before someone came to bring us to him. I work in healthcare, so I understand it can be hard to manage all the different patients, but legacy feels pretty disorganized and it feels as though the hospital is running up the bill unnecessarily :/"

"Took my partner to the ER here due to a scare. We both have serious anxiety around hospitals, but everyone was really nice and understanding and helped us feel much safer in a very stressful situation. I wasn't thinking too much about whether it'd be a 'good' hospital, I just chose the closest available ER, but I would go again for sure if I needed anything--of course, I hope I never see it again, but that's no fault of the people here."

"Tell me how the company you use to work for is dishonest without saying it. I’ll go first… 1. I got a family member hired and applied for the bonus. Received a email from HR that I was denied, given no explanation and my request was closed. 2. Employees were promised to be paid if we contacted covid, as long as we were fully vaccinated. I was never paid and my five days off were counted against my attendance. Legacy had recently implemented a ‘new rule’ of having proof both patient/ staff were unmasked and in contact in close proximity for 15minutes or longer in order to receive covid pay. 3. I Injured my foot at work in because we are so short staffed and I over did it with the workload. I was off work for two days, both those days off I was harrassed by a supervisor to come back to work both in email and phone calls. I gave in and came back on light duty on the 3rd day. I was never told this but in order to be paid for work related injuries at legacy you have to be off more than three days to receive lost wages. I went unpaid for my two days because I had no PTO to cover. 4. Injured my knee at work (decided to avoid workers comp because I was treated differently by managers/ supervisors after my previous injury and was put on light duty for a week per doctor order/ note. Management and supervisors completely ignored my texts, calls and emails with my light duty note so I again, went unpaid and missed days of work were counted against my attendance. 5. Me and another coworker are being bullied by a male coworker, we both have documentation of each incident, and have filed ‘ICARES’ with HR and our ‘UNION’ is aware but was never followed up with by HR and our reports were closed… still dealing with retaliation from that male coworker who now knows that Icares were put in on him. 6. The outside company for medical leave files your leave incorrectly (Sedgwick) and you lose your entire medical/dental coverage for you and your spouse two days after major surgery and you get a notification 17 DAYS AFTER surgery with cobra options for insurance coverage. HR was unable to reactivate my coverage until I returned to work after 6 weeks. * our quote on quote ‘UNION’ is hands off and will ghost employees but continue to take the $30 per paycheck. Leadership of the hospital has gone down hill the past 6 years. It will be interesting to see how this OHSU merge goes. I feel for the Legacy Employees that are still working there. I really hope things improve and that the preaching from hire ups at legacy actually act on their words of compassion and care for their employees. It’s a sad world we are living in."

"This is a really nice hospital. They plan and invest in the renovation and upkeep of the units and spaces which noticeably have a positive impact on patients and their visitors. More importantly, a large majority of nurses, allied professionals, support staff, and physicians show a high level of professionalism and a kind attitude to patients and one another- even though working in and around healthcare is not easy."
