About the Business

Reece Farm & Heritage Center

The Reece Farm & Heritage Center, located in Blairsville, Georgia, is a museum dedicated to preserving the early 20th century Appalachian style of life. Visitors can experience farm life from this era, complete with farm animals and fruit & vegetable production. The Byron Herbert Reece Farm features restored barns, a corn crib, chicken house, smokehouse, spring house, and petting farm. State-of-the-art exhibits tell the story of Byron Herbert Reece, a farmer, writer, and poet who lived on the site.

The museum also includes a visitor's center, gift shop, creek-side amphitheater, and picnic tables. Small venue concerts are held behind the welcome center on the stage beside the creek or at the pavilion. The Creekside Deck and Betty Sellers Memorial Amphitheater on the creek provide beautiful settings for exchanging vows or hosting smaller ceremonies.

Additionally, the Union County Commission will be holding a special meeting at the courthouse in Blairsville to discuss a contract for the installation of a temporary crossing and permanent bridge on Fisher Field Road. The meeting will also address a mutual agreement between Union County and Lumpkin County regarding the boundary of the 16th District.

"I really enjoyed this venue. It was perfect for the function I attended, and I will keep it in mind when I need to find a space for future gatherings. The open air pavilion has a large stone hearth on one end and a utility area on the other that includes flushing toilets. There's electricity for plugging in things like laptop computers, crock pots, etc. The grounds include a very pretty little stream, some open grassy areas, and ample parking. And, despite being near the highway, there's very little road noise. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did."

"Check out the live music events during the warmer seasons on Fridays and Saturdays under the pavilion. They’ll even burn a wood fire when it’s colder out! Beautiful paw paws and black walnuts along Wolf Creek. The walking trail connects to a forest service road that eventually connects to Vogel State Park, and it is fantastic. My only complaint is lots of kudzu on the property. But that’s a universal struggle in the South!"

"We had such an amazing time staying here. There are several homes to choose from, so I selected the larger home because it had more bathrooms, and we were staying with another couple. This place was very easy to book and the staff I talked to (Kristy) was very helpful and friendly. I really didn't realize how cute of town Blairsville was and would definitely stay here and visit again. The house we stayed at was clean and neat with a beautiful stream behind it. I needed a relaxing weekend and this place was perfect!"

"Nice little stop along the highway to commemorate Byron Reece, the poet/farmer. There is a film which educates one in regards to his early life and start of his career. There are stone markers with some of his poetry. I really enjoyed the small creek and feeding the donkey and goat."
