The Royal Sonesta Portland Downtown

"To start, we had trouble making our reservation online, so we called and were told they couldn't do a telephone reservation and got sent a link that didn't work. We dif this 3 times until we finally got a working one. As mentioned by many other reviews, there are so many hidden fees that even though we were prepared and read everything thoroughly, we still got hit with others. The parking fee is ridiculous. The place itself is stylish but tries too hard to be quirky with too many mixed prints. The lobby has a pretty sitting area with a hughe fireplace, a piano, and a chess board. The room was small and the table was dirty. The temperature was either too warm or too cold as much as we tried to adjust it. We stayed one night, and we were so tired we just dealt with it. We had to ask where the coffee was because there's no signage to the restaurant. Once we found it, coffee was cold, and croissants were hard as a rock. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to a good night."

"Great location just a short couple blocks to Pioneer Square where the Trimet Max light rail goes in every direction. The room was clean and comfortable, the premises were also clean and tidy. Front desk staff were great upon arrival. My only complaint is that the “grab and go” breakfast offered had nothing I could eat because the fruit bowl contained something I’m allergic to and the other item offered was croissants and I’m allergic to wheat (gluten free.)"

"Excellent desk and cleaning staff, big spacious rooms, great thermostat and water heating. My only complaint is the pillows were very thin and not the most comfortable. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay and we would absolutely return. The building and rooms are absolutely gorgeous and take you back to the 19th century in a very stylish way! The prices on rooms are very reasonable and the location is amazing. You can pretty much walk anywhere in downtown Portland within 10-15 minutes. Karla at the front desk and Elliot who cleaned our room were both incredible!"

"The Hotel is located very central with easy access to the Pearl, Downtown and connections to the interstate to get to Beaverton. Rooms are very specious and clean, the staff are very attentive and friendly really want to give props to Nathan and Patrick from the Valet service as Parking onsite was provided and they went over and above to accommodate with pulling the car up front. Great overall experience."

"I absolutely loved my stay at the Royal Sonesta. The staff, especially Karla, were truly exceptional and went above and beyond. The rooms are incredibly clean, comfortable, and well designed. The hotel gym was solid. I took advantage of the spa service located next to the hotel in the Aveda salon. And it was easy to walk to most city destinations. I will absolutely stay here next time I’m in Portland."
