"I grew up going to Roger's Meats. Roger Sr. owned it then, and Roger Jr. worked there side by side with his dad. There use to be a huge selection of meats...steaks, weiners, sausages, ring bologna and so on. It was one of my favorite places. Roger Jr. took over after his father passed away. He only offers the ring bologna and weiners now. He works alone, so he needed to cut back. I STILL love it. It still tastes so incredible to me and when I visit Winona, it's a MUST HAVE. I also enjoy talking with Roger Jr. when I visit. It's good to reminisce"

"The best smoked meats in the area. Only makes Summer Sausage, hot dogs and rings of bologna. Unfortunately it is a one-man operation now and he has been having some medical/physical issues. It is tough to be a small old fashioned business man today. Roger smokes his meats once a week. Small batches of his family recipes with less fat than any others I have tried. He will only sell you a small amounts to keep enough on hand for his regular customers. Hours are sporadic. Afternoons are best to catch him. The storefront is only open when he has meat to sell. Call ahead to see if he is there. It is worth it to work around his schedule. A great product!"

"My grandfather used to go here, knew Roger personally. My father and mother also knew Roger, and would make several trips every year to Winona for the meat and the bakery down the street. I have been going there myself since i was a child. The son and wife that now run it have always had a scowl on their face. They would complain that we were buying to much. So we would call ahead, to place an order. This tradition over the generations ended a few years ago. I called, and the owner said he doesn't like selling to people from out of town, he just makes it for his hunting buddies. In one statement that jerk ended a 60 year tradition. As another said, Roger would not be proud."

"I’ve been buying hot dogs here for many years and always enjoyed them. My last purchase a couple weeks ago was disgusting. The hot dogs must have been frozen for a very long time or something cause they had no snap whatsoever and the flavor was almost nil. Last time for me. I ended up throwing the hot dogs outside for the fox who frequent our neighborhood. $14 wasted! Your dad would not be proud of what you sold me."
