"BUYER BEWARE OF EXCESSIVE CHARGES TARGETING THE ELDERLY! UPDATE: Be extremely careful if you do any business with this company. They are now resorting to fabrication of information to defend themselves. In other words...lying. This is a bit of a long story as I want to make sure you have all of the relevant information. On or about 9/28/23 my grandmother spoke with Phillip Prokash of the Vande Hey Company reference having some landscaping work completed. Phillip met with my grandmother at her home and discussed what was to be done. Phillip then provided a scope of work and a price. The scope of work consisted of the following and was a space of about 400 to 500 square feet. "Remove and dispose of existing pavers on back side of house. Prepare planting beds with proper soil amendments as needed by plant material variety. Furnish and install pachysandra (250 plants). Furnish and installl Hi-Yield Weed/Grass stopper, and hardwood bark mulch." That is the full description and the total was $12,012.65. In addition there is a rock wall existing that needed some maintenance work done. The quoted cost to my grandmother for this work was $3000.00 in addition the to $12,012.65 for a total of $15,012.65. The description of the work to be done for the stone wall, per the contract is "Repair wall with one crew for one day" My grandmother signed this contract on 10/06/23 and provided a $7500 down payment. Plans were drawn and the work began in November after some delays due to "communication" issues in office. The brick pavers that were quoted in the original contract were removed by my grandmother's son prior to the beginning of any work performed by Vande Hey because he decided he wanted the pavers. On the day the "crew" was supposed to show up for the rock wall repairs, 2 laborers arrived and worked for approximately 5 hours to move some of the rocks that had fallen from the wall. That is all. That is the extent of the work that was performed for the quoted $3000. On the subsequent days of work being performed, laborers arrived, prepped the 400-500 square foot are with top soil, planted 250 pachysandra and topped with hardwood mulch. When I heard what had been done for the price that was quoted to my grandmother, I had a very difficult time understanding where the $15,000.00+ went. I made contact via phone with Phillip, advised him of my concern about the contact pricing vs the amount of work performed and requested detailed billing to ensure that Phillip had not charged an elderly lady an exorbitant price for this work. Phillip refused to provide a detailed invoice to either of us. Phillip acknowledged that a line item adjustment was needed for the brick removal that did not occur. I again asked Phillip to confirm he would not provide a detailed invoice. He stated he would not. Complaints have been filed with the WI DATCP and the BBB. Updates to follow... Edit: 12/13/23 If you are so transparent please provided the requested invoice with a breakdown of time and materials for the services provided. Prove to me that you are what you say. Anyone can say anything...prove it. Edit: 12/20/23 Uploaded copy of 100% transparent pricing. Edit: 01/09/23 Vande Hey Company has responded to the BBB complaint alleging that my grandmother had warned them about her grandson being "bitter" about moving forward with the project without his (my) knowledge. This is laughable as well as sad that a company would resort to lies reference a BBB dispute. They have no way of knowing by my grandmother and I are tight and those words would never have been said. We continue to request a detailed invoice with labor and material breakouts. (My opinion is that they don't want to give us this information because they will have to put in writing that they charged in excess of $225/hour for labor without disclosing the exorbitant fees for their work.)"

"They installed an in ground pool in the middle of the winter…come spring I noticed cracks in the shell of the pool. No one wanted to listen to me. No one wanted to come and take a look and no one wanted to entertain my conversation. Another year passed and now the pool has cracks everywhere. VandeHey said they were superficial and just in the resin gel coat and could easily be buffed out. I drained the pool…a service man came to buff out cracks and found out I was right the entire time. The cracks cannot be buffed out…they are within the pool shell, so it is now a warranty issue. Ive been waiting months for a date on when the repairs would be made…and now I have been ghosted by them completely. They wont give me the warranty claim number for the pool manufacturer…and it is now going on 2 and a half years. The cracks continue to spread and Im left with a damaged pool for $40,000!!!!! Lack of honesty…communication…and acknowledgement of the mistakes made during installation. Frustration and anger …..and Im still waiting for an answer….."

We really appreciate the way they respected our property, our neighbors, and made us feel very comfortable with the job they were doing. The way they protected our existing lawn for damage. The way they swept up any dirt, stone, etc. from the road that was spilt while working- and never left a mess! The guys on the job site never made us feel like we were asking too many questions. And took the time to answer all questions. After 26 years fixing this area of our lawn every spring, it will be nice seeing green grass year round. Job Well Done!"
