"We left American family because of our last experience!!!! In the past, there was customer service, customer service is no longer part of the American family vocabulary!!! We had a garage fire. To start with no one called to see if we needed anything, we were on our own, we were without electricity, even in our home. We had to search for an electrician on our own, our regular electrician was to busy for us. I was surprised to find out that my motorcycle was not covered! American family cancelled the policy over a year earlier due to a late payment. In the past we would receive a call from the office, never received one. The adjuster took 3 weeks to visit, she came from Georgia!!! In the past adjusters were there the following day!!!! The people handling the claim were horrible, besides the lies they told to us, they also lied about us!!!! Don't expect them to get back to you in a timely manner either, isn't happening!! At one point I called my agents office to get the name and number for a supervisor, once I called him, low and behold, I had 2 phone calls within 12 hours!!!! It shouldn't be this way! We had paid in to American family for almost 50 years on different policies and when we needed help we got nothing!!! We were so disappointed, after about 50 years, we switched. Customer service is a dirty word with American family."
