Reviews
"Trails were maintained. Free parking. Whale bones were displayed. Good for kids and leashed dogs. Beautiful views. Stay on the correct side of the fence. You can see where the cliff slid and took a tree with it. Be smart. It's well worth it."
"Thereβs a gray whale bone beside the restroom in the parking area."
"Beautiful views with a quick 1/2 mile walk down to the ocean. Be aware there are very steep steps down to the ocean...96 to be exact. We went at low tide today and saw hermit crabs and muscles. But not much more. Take the bluff trail back to the car for more beautiful views."
"An awe-inspiring place to look at sea animals in the tide pools. The rangers there as so helpful and informative. The parking lot gets full quickly, we waited for 10 minutes or so and found a spot. Walk through the majestic cypress tunnel of tress, or take the bluff trail amidst the cypress forest and enjoy the beach views form the top. On the right side of the Parking lot, the path leads to seals resting area and it is closed off now. On the left side, take the bridge that is 100 yards away from the Parking lot towards the restroom side and go on the Dardenelle trail and take a right at the end to find the set of stairs that lead down to tide pools. These tide pools are accessible in low tides. Check tide charts before you go. There are plenty of mussels, sea stars, sea anemones, urchins, hermit crabs, sea slugs and other animals. Be gentle and mind your step. Don't touch any animal, take care with your children too. No dogs allowed in the tide pool area. Area is open from 8am -5pm"
"A fun place to be even on its windiest day. A place for the 4 grandkids(7, 6, 5, 2) to learn about tide pools. The cypress trees are amazingly tall. The trail is easy to walk. Being older, the 96 steps down to the beach are challenging, but even more so on the flip side after we walked the beach."
