"BE FOREWARNED. I used Tax Gal & Associates for several years. However, when they filed my 2011 taxes there was an incorrect filing of IRA contribution withdrawal that came to light with the IRS in 2013. I paid them to make an amendment. In 2017, the California Franchise Tax Board contacted Tax Gal & Associates, because they filed the IRS amendment. The person at the Franchise Tax Board told me that Tax Gal & Associates told him that they no longer do my taxes. However, they did do the amendment that he was calling them about. To make a long story short, because they did not make an amendment in the state of California, my bank account has a levy on it and I now have to pay back taxes along with fees that I DO NOT owe. The person at the Franchise Tax Board told me that if this had been done earlier it would be refundable - "your tax person was not doing her job". When you file an amendment with the IRS one should also be filed with the State. Now, 6 tax years have past. I was advised that it would still be worthwhile to file the amendment although there is no guarantee of refund. The least Tax Gal & Associates could do is file the amendment with the State of CA and get my account straight with the Franchise Tax Board. I sent an email to Mary Jane and Donna to get their input but received no response."
