Pomponio State Beach is a popular tourist attraction located at 19369 Cabrillo Highway South, San Gregorio, California, United States. This beautiful beach is situated 12 miles south of Half Moon Bay along the San Mateo coastline, offering miles of gently sloping, sandy beaches at the base of high sandstone bluffs. Visitors can enjoy the small lagoon and roaring surf, as well as facilities such as picnic tables and pit toilets.

Please note that camping is not available at this park, and online reservations are not accepted. However, California State Parks Backpacking Adventures offers naturalist-led backpacking trips through the Santa Cruz Mountains each summer, including a new "Cars-BA" Family Camp at Big Basin. Online registration is currently open for these adventures.

Dogs are prohibited on the beach at all times, and beach fires are not allowed. Collecting shells, driftwood, and other natural beach features is also prohibited. Additionally, fireworks are not allowed at Pomponio State Beach. Nearby state park campgrounds include Half Moon Bay State Beach and Butano State Park for those looking to camp.

For safety reasons, drones are not allowed in the park, and permits are required for all events and weddings. A photography permit is also required for all commercial photography. Visitors are advised to use caution when in or near the ocean, as the water is very cold year-round and strong rip currents can be present.

Pomponio State Beach receives support and funding from the Coastside State Parks Association and the Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks. To stay updated on events and news from California State Parks, visitors can join the mailing list.

"This beach felt more "untouched" than other beaches I've been too which was so fun! I loved seeing the variety of wildlife and the cool rock structures. It was too cold the day we went to getin the water but we loved exploring and walking around."

"Beautiful park, the Ranger at the pay booth was very cool and fun she takes allot of pride keeping the place clean and litter free. Restroom was clean and there is picnic tables and BBQ pits. Easy access to the beach front. Caught my PB 26in. Bass Striper and some small perch. Had a cookout before we headed out it was an awesome day!!"

"It is a very good beach for kids and family to play. The beach is quite long and can be shared by many people. Sand is clean and flat. There is big rock and cliff that has a good view. Some caves are inside the cliff but they are under the sea sometimes. It is by the side of CA-1. Parking space is a lot."
