"I survived a stroke that disabled my right side; also I have severe osteo arthritis. The physical therapy needed to make any recovery from the stroke and the therapy needed to keep me functioning with the arthritic knee, hip, back and neck required working parts of my body even though it hurt at first. Elite Pain Management prescribed just the right amount of pain medication to get me through the initial stages of essential physical therapy. The stroke was in 2004, I am now able to live alone and continue my therapies on less medication. As I gain strength to work out more on my own the new circulation involved gives my body the nutrition it needs to push on and do the work. Elite pain management played a very supportive role to keep me working out. Dr. Chen kept a good record of how my workouts were progressing along with increased ability to function on my own and on less meds. Whenever there was a new issue he always made time to see me and help me evaluate the situation. I have gone from 24/7 caretakers to living independently. I ride horses in my hypo therapy sessions (at the handicapped equestrian center)...twice a week; I do hydrotherapy 3 times a week; I am working with a physical therapist on a personalized weights program 2 times a week; and I am on my recumbent bike everyday. The pain management process at Elite has been a big factor in the stroke recovery and dealing with the pain of arthritic joints. I would highly recommended them to everyone that needs help getting through tough therapy to regain and/or recover basic functions. (I am 83 years old.)"

"Dr Cheng is one of the most kind and empathetic Drs I've ever had. He absolutely wants to keep you out of pain. He is also VERY responsible. I had to be on some very strong pain medication for my injury and he would have me back every week or two to monitor my situation. Went over every one of my other Dr's reports and imaging reports. I was with him for about 5 months because my first injury took about 3 months and we were almost finished taking me off of all of my medications and I got run over by a Great Dane at a dog park and was completely reinjured but worse. He was truly blown away as was I. I was devastated. I wanted off of that medication, I wanted to get on with the rest of my life and I could not even walk. Back on the meds again, more physical therapy, more Dr's and they could not give me a prognosis. The pharmacies were confused because my prescriptions had come down so low that when they went right back up again they started treating me like a criminal and refused to fill them. The pharmacy had to speak to him and now they want him to fill out a form. One thing is that he will not call your insurance company or pharmacy. He hates the phone I think. Let me say if I haven't already that my injuries are agonizing. My whole left leg is smaller than the right now. I think Dr Cheng feels out of his realm now and does not want me on these narcotics anymore so he referred me to UCI who said all of my prognosis' were wrong, that I should not be in this much pain so she prescribed me an NSAID!!!! They do absolutely nothing for me. I only have 15 more days of my old medications and am trying to wean myself off of them because obviously you cannot just stop cold turkey. I live in bed on ice. Physical Therapy and am completely lost now. Anyway don't EVER go to UCI if you have real pain because the most they're going to give you is Celebrex and if you get real lucky some Flexiril. She wouldn't even give me that. I'm pretty bummed that he sent me there, actually really bummed. I truly don't know how I am going to get through this. I have to say if I had not been reinjured my whole experience with him would have been perfect. He is an excellent Dr. Unfortunately my situation is such a mess now nobody knows what to do with me."
