Sakina Counseling

Sakina Counseling, located at 20101 Southwest Birch Street in Newport Beach, California, is a health institution specializing in therapy services for the Muslim community. Led by licensed Marriage & Family therapist Noha Alshugairi, the institution focuses on helping American Muslim families integrate their faith and culture in the U.S. Noha is the first to teach Islamic parenting through the lens of Positive Discipline and offers one-on-one therapy, workshops, and produces videos and books on the subject.

As a Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, Noha conducts parenting classes regularly and provides training for teachers and administrators in schools. She also lectures on various topics related to women and family, including marriage & divorce in the American Muslim community, parent and child relationships, faith and culture integration, youth identity development, and changing women roles in the family unit.

Using a client-centered approach, Noha works with individuals, families, couples, and teens to create a tailored process based on their goals and styles. She has published videos of her parenting workshops and Positive Discipline workshops for schools, as well as introductory videos on YouTube. Noha is currently working on a book on Positive Discipline in the Muslim Home, with all videos and publications available on the institution's website under Videos & Publications.
