"AMDA, a school where you can pay upwards of $50,000 to continue taking introductory level acting classes that are no different from any drama classes in any high school. They require auditions but accept 99% of applicants. This in not a cutting edge school where you will learn from the best about the industry and how to succeed in the industry, this a school where they hire working actors who know how to act but do not know how to teach, therefore students leave with very little knowledge about acting. This school is money trap, it has a nice look and good advertising but once you arrive at school it is very obvious that all this school wants is your money. I lived in a an over crowded room with three other girls and cockroaches and mice. I was not supported as a student and did not get what I needed to succeed. Most students who attend this school do not engage with the material at all and spend most of class on their phones wasting their money. If you want to be an actor, dancer, or musical theatre student after high school do yourself a favor and go somewhere with better values, teachers, and students."
"My dream school for acting. Since a child i always wanted to act but never could find any opportunities for it. Visiting this school today has re lit my passion for acting abd will apply!"
"It is a money making enterprise. They have taken money without delivering a quality education. Dropping students who can’t afford being there year round. Some times a student might need to take time off to work during the summer so he or she can return during the fall yet that student is not allowed. Their motto is “take the money and run.”"
"Great studies but unfortunately they like to place students in the same class room with their abusers that they already have a no contact rule with. Yes abusers walk freely around campus. AMDA you guys should really do something about that. Not a great look and very scary. Keep it a safe space."
"I have been teaching at AMDA for 6 years. My favorite parts of working there is the diversity of the campus and the tremendous experience of the Faculty. They have walked the walk and deeply care about training their students to be successful in the performing arts. Some of my ex students are on Broadway, tours and film/television, but some are just as fulfilled teaching in their communities. All share a drive and dedication to finding themselves as artists. I have also been involved in the Artists Lab on campus which helps students find their own voices as writers, composers, choreographers, directors, poets etc. It gives me great pride to see them create their own work and stories to inspire and enlighten which we all can use now more than ever."
