"Probably one of the worst living experiences I’ve had in my whole entire life. For starters—not worth the money you’re paying for. The parking is absolutely terrible and you can hear literally everything that’s happening in the building, especially the mice that rampage in the walls. Erston and his cronies are absolutely terrible when it comes to communication. Moving out was a nightmare and they deducted a large portion of our deposit for God—knows—what. My friend and I lived in the complex on 7th Ave in the Inner Richmond and I can not stress enough…if you value your money, your community, and most importantly, your piece of mind; don’t live here. I was a victim of racial profiling by the lady that lived in unit 1 which was across the hall from us. From the start of our lease to the end, Cecil (our elderly neighbor who I’m not confidently sure actually lived there) constantly harassed my roommate and I. Not entirely sure if it was because we were young, queer, or because a POC was living across the hall but she was the worst and absolutely disrespectful on multiple occasions. She would call management and blame random things on us and then we’d get phone calls from Josh (property manager) saying that someone reported us doing something and that he didn’t have proof but this person said it was us… But Ashley’s Cafe across the street is a gem and the only good thing that came out of my experience at this complex."

"I want to preface this by saying I'm not getting anything out of writing this review. I've just had such a great experience with Cournale & Co and wanted to share my experience. I've been living at one of their properties for about a year now and they are a fantastic rental management company. They're very responsive to any issues we ever have. The moment a work order goes in, we hear back from them in a very timely manner. I've lived in some pretty terribly managed buildings before so I'm incredibly appreciative of how attentive C&C is with us."

"We really loved the unit/location but communication was lukewarm during our tenancy. It really dropped off when we told them we were moving out and moving cross-country. All of the sudden they were even less helpful, friendly and communicative. Their recommended contractor was SO kind and helpful - the difference between the contractor's demeanor and Erston's during the move out process was really surprising. I would probably rent from them again if I could go back (especially if I could work with someone other than Erston). We have only rented a couple units in SF, but I would say if you rent with Cournale just go into it with lower customer service expectations and you will be content."

"Moved into a unit after it had already been lived in for 4 years. They did not clean or repair any damage when I moved in. After my 2 years of tenancy, they are now trying to steal over $4k of my deposit to perform routine maintenance like new paint, replacing blinds, and professional cleaning. This company is the definition of a slumlord. Avoid at all costs."

"DO NOT RENT their apartments, mice walking around like they own it and you can hear noises from upstairs, downstairs and manhole noise from cars driving by. very loud, you can't sleep at all. update: do not rent from them, they won't return your deposit! i will sue them until i get my money back. i moved out because of the mice problem. i hired a cleaning lady for a 4-hour cleaning and a contractor to patch the holes on the wall and cover marks on the wall with new print. cournale is absolutely insane and deducted $2,590 credit from me. if you don't want to lose your deposit even though being a very good and responsible tenant, stay away from them. cournale, see you in court!"
