"Surprised at the many negative reviews and noted that many involve dissatisfaction with their PCP, medical network, or medical group. Unlike Kaiser, which is a health provider, system, and insurer, WHA is an insurance company. I have always had positive interactions with them, they have approved multiple out of network area emergencies, and covered all services as advertised. Not once have they denied a treatment or imaging that my PCP has prescribed."
"When is the next enrollment. I'm so over this insurance. It's like a jigsaw puzzle , and you don't know whom to talk about. They assign me to a PCP that's not even accepting patients. So I have to call them for doctors that are accepting patients and were on the phone calling doctors one by one .I went to an obgyn to ask for infertility referral and ask follow up my prioritization and so I can be seen by the specialist when after 2 weeks I never heard of it , I call WHA and told me prior authorization depends on Hill Physician if they approved it. I called Hill Physician and told me it was cancelled and that I have to see my PCP. I have to pick a PCP not to my liking but because it accepts new patients. I got a very bad RSV now and thinking " I will be dead flat and no doctor has been available to see me. This is not consider emergency and urgent care want to see me next week I'm sure I should change insurance ! but for now I am stuck. Going back to Kaiser I will pay extra , but not like this ! waste of money with no guarantee of care , WHA member where all polite and answer question promptly, it's not their fault they work in this company."
"I have had WHA for 7 years and haven't had any real issues. However, since I changed my primary doctor over a year ago I've been very pleased and only wish I changed it sooner. However, the options for OB/GYN and Dermatology care are super poopy. I wish I could find better and more convenient resources but I will remain patient and cross my fingers for something to change soon."
"I cannot begin to describe how unacceptable and atrocious this insurance company is and how regretful I am for choosing this plan. This plan is so complex and the so called "network" is not a network. It has a collection of medical groups which each has a collection of doctors' offices that are all independent of each other. Kaiser is a network. This is a bunch of random doctors thrown into a bucket who don't even know each other exist. If you want to get an appointment for anything you have to call each doctor's office individually off their so called "Open Primary care Provider list" to get an appointment and, "shockingly" everyone is booked up. I spent the entire day today calling every single doctor's office in every medical group in Sonoma and Marin counties for a Primary Care Provider appointment and the earliest appointment is 1.5 months from now. My wife is very sick and needs to see a specialist and there is nothing we can do as a Primary Care Provider needs to refer to a specialist you before anything is covered. I have been on the phone with their customer service and their response is literally "go back to the ER and build your case to see someone faster". It is absolutely ridiculous and I am shocked that CALPERS would even allow this plan to be offered. Do not get lured into the lower monthly premiums with this plans and choose anything else if you care about yourself or your family. I feel so helpless that I cannot get my wife the appropriate care that she needs and I will most likely be going out of pocket to make sure my wife gets what she needs."
"You cannot see the doctor only the nurse (nurse practitioner) their system is so bad that you can not get anything resolved. No concern for the service they provide. Doctors are never available, and you cannot schedule a time for visit. The only person available in the office is the nurse practitioner They get your monthly insurance preview every month. However, they don't provide adequate services indicated by the plan. If you file a complaint with tangible reason they only contact the facility and send your later with the assumption that the information is correct from the facility when it's not. Additionally, they don't contact you to adequately get your information and actual facts; you are only allowed to file a complaint where you can only provide a few lines of information."
