"We have been taking our daughter to Alameda Pediatrics for approximately 8 years, but will NEVER return after how we were recently treated. My daughter's prescription was refused for refill at a local pharmacy, so we called the doctor's office to have it refilled. They refused to refill it, saying that she was due for a check-up appointment. After scheduling an appointment many weeks ago during Covid, I alerted the office that we were running very slightly late. They said 'ok', but when we arrived at the office 6 minutes late for the appointment, they told us very unceremoniously to leave, as the doctor wouldn't be able to see my daughter in the window of time that they had allocated to her with those six minutes missing. I later had a call with the office manager, Vanessa Benavides, who refused to apologize for the behavior of their staff (who had not told me it would be impossible to see my daughter if we arrived late), and who refused to exhibit any empathy in the inconvenience caused by their refusal - (my family has one car; my fiance had driven with my daughter from Oakland to pick me up from work to be with them). Ultimately, these six precious minutes wasted over an hour and a half of my family's time, which both my fiance and I had taken off of work to attend the appointment. An hour and a half, plus money lost. Office manager could've cared less. After much very cold conversation, Ms. Benavides finally admitted that my daughter didn't actually even need an appointment to get the prescription refilled; that the office's telling me she needed an appointment was erroneous. She was so disrespectful, uncaring, and completely unprofessional in such a serious way that I vowed to find a more empathetic doctor and medical office. UCSF Benioff has been AMAZING! Glad we're making the switch."
