About the Business

Konkel Park, located at 5151 West Layton Avenue in Greenfield, Wisconsin, is a popular tourist attraction and park. Originally known as the "Greenfield Recreation Complex", the park was officially dedicated as Stanley J. Konkel Park in 1990 to honor Mr. Konkel's 34 years of service to the community on the Park and Recreation Board.

The park features two official softball fields with lights, a shelter/concessions/restroom facility, a large playground area, and a "sand volleyball center" with four courts. In 1994, Milwaukee County deeded over 16 acres of adjacent land to the City, expanding the park to its current size.

In 2002, construction began on a comprehensive multipurpose walkway/trail system within the park, connecting to neighboring schools to enhance accessibility and recreation opportunities. In 2020, a 1,800-foot asphalt walkway was added to connect Konkel Park to Greenfield High School.

The park has also been the focus of City Arbor Day activities, with over 300 trees planted in 1993, 1998, 2002, and 2003. Konkel Park facilities are available for rent for various events such as picnics, family reunions, weddings, and more. Visit the park's rentals page for more information on booking.

"Really clean and nice modern park. Playground, restaurants, big field to provide fun for all. We were here for the fireworks-which were real good! They had an awesome setup with live music and plenty food trucks."

"Really nice place! I came with my daughter right when it opened at 12. Not a lot of traffic, free skate rentals (first come, first serve), concession stand, and skate buddies for the littles. It was snowing the day we came so the only little hiccup was having one person shovel the big ice rink while kids tried to skate. But overall I will be bringing my daughter again, she loved it, and staff workers are kind and friendly!!!:)"

"Favorite park. Lots of space, bathroom available next to young kids playground. The Amp is a great facility. This land is being utilized so amazingly well. New stuff popping up, while dedicated space is being moved to the outskirts."
