Reviews
"This clinic has saved my life. McLaughlin is excellent with my rare condition. Sometimes staff is slow but be proactive and be the squeaky wheel! They will get it done. Realize they are people too. Been going here for years from Merced CA. Their care is 100% worth it. Thank you staff."
"I have been waiting 3 weeks to get a care. I have explained that it is very important that I get the appointment but it is juts unbelievable the inefficiency of the people working at the referral part. First they call told me, they will call to my doctor and to call them back if I don’t hear from there. I actually told my doctor to send the referral. She did but guess what …Their system needs days to update the referrals…then apparently they sent back the referral to my doctor and nobody can tell me why…it is health what they are joking with…."
"awful experience on every possible level. The employees they get to man the desks are nice enough but they are just cogs in a complex bureaucracy that makes it impossible to actually receive care. If you are a trans person seeking care from these people do it yourself. They lack knowledge and don't divert nearly enough resources to caring for their patients whatsoever."
"Don't bother. Made appointment 3 months ago, which was soonest available at the time. I was offered a video visit, which was fine, as I knew I might be out of town (but not out of state) on the date offered. 2 weeks before the appointment I receive call from them to confirm appointment AND tell me they have changed their policy and now require all new patient appointments to be in person. I said I'd be out of town, and was told I could reschedule to soonest appointment with same provider- 3 months later- or be seen sooner by someone that had just joined their practice and for which there was no information (other than online CV). I asked how they thought it was acceptable to apply a new policy to pre-existing appointments, and the rep said the policy was changed "a while ago" but did not address my concern about failing to provide reasonable notice to patients who had already been waiting months for their appointment. After I called patient relations, I received a terse and unapologetic message from the endocrinology department's manager, Alan Rodriguez, who simply restated that this was their new policy. I again contacted patient relations, and again received a message from Rodriguez, this time with the most insincere "apology" about my lack of a great experience with Stanford, and offering me an appointment with the new provider. I then read their patient's rights brochure and submitted a complaint to the Department of Public Health. I'll be making an appointment with UCSF. I'd rather drive 3x as far and pay for tolls and parking than deal with Stanford healthcare. If they are like this before you're even seen, I can only imagine how bad it is as a patient."
"If there is a no star, I would give to this clinic. As a practicing physican, I know what is the minimal professional conduct that a clinic and a doctor should hold. This practice is falling below the standard of care. Right from the start, it is impossible to get to talk to anyone on the phone to schedule a visit, you have to call through a calling service which then relay the message to them. And they always said they never get the message from the call center. When I emailed them directly, I got an auto reply of how busy they are. They ordered my lab works and never follow up on the results. The results are substantially abnormal but there was no follow-up for months. Then surprisingly after enough complaints for 5 months, I got a notification for a video visit with one of the doctors on a day and time that was not convenient for me. I was never asked whether this time was good for me. There seems to be a practicing liability issue with this doctor and this practice. My visit was done via video and I remember what questions were asked, but the after visit note generated a lot more information than what was provided. Worst of all, there was a review of system and physical exam done, how could you generate these complexities when this was simply a video visit. They did this so that they can bill the insurance for the highest level of billing. For those who wish to find a competent endocrine care in the Bay Area, go to UCSF or even CPMC. This is an advise from a physican. I have heard similar complaints from my patients about the endocrine practice at Stanford."
