"Highly recommend this practice and feel fortunate to have access to this practice this past year and a half. Dr. Lumkong is stellar and everyone in the practice is capable, efficient and professional. I prefer to use their easy-to-navigate portal to book appointments and always receive email offers for earlier appointments, even if with another provider other than my primary. Same for prescription requests and orders for tests. Test results are often posted in my portal the same day, very impressive! Because of the seamlessness between the professional staff and their online system I never procrastinate about contacting to leave an inquiry or booking an appointment. The result is that I never hesitate to address health concerns."

"The Scripps Coastal docs are fine but the back office is a mess. Prescriptions are always sent to the wrong pharmacy, it takes 3-5 messages back and forth to do anything bc no one seems to read the messages. Oh and it takes 24 hours to respond to any messages so it's usually at least a week to get anything done. I have a Blue Shield HMO so I'm stuck with them. It sucks : D Instead of hiring people respond to these reviews saying "Please contact the office so we can sort this out," Scripps should just hire more people to work in the office. Clearly their people are either untrained or stretched waaay too thin."

"Providers are fine but the back office is super dysfunctional. Trying to message about any clinical issues is comical bc the admin staff are either under-trained or over-worked. You just go around and around in a loop and it takes 3-5 messages for even the most simple things bc the admin folks don't read the messages. I have an HMO so I'm stuck with them. Sigh."

"TRUST THOSE WHO REVIEW REGULARLY... Came in with Mom after she had a fall and spent 3 hours in the ER with her. MOST of the staff was great (not Nurse Rached (I think her name is April)) and made supportive efforts. No temperature or other test was required for me to enter the ER. I went home about 4:30a to get some rest before surgery. Since nobody called, I phoned the ER and was told surgery would be at 11:00a. I returned well before to be with my mother and found I would not be allowed inside the main hospital without a vaccination card or negative test result. No testing offered at entrance to accommodate Scripps' independent requirement (not required by Kaiser and others) for negative proof in hand. Ignorant desk clerk outside main entrance (10:30a 5/1/22) should not be in front of ANYBODY. ER Angela said "state policy" to prevent visitors without test results. She was 99% certain rapid-testing is offered at Scripps, Jefferson (Carlsbad location). Renee (M) from Jefferson location said "no," and confirmed with his supervisor. NO other outfit in the area offers rapid tests on Sundays, without symptoms, or an appointment. Angela spoke with the Operations Supervisor (f) between 11:30a-12:00p who was unwilling to take my call. She repeatedly stated "there is nothing we can do." Orthopedic Surgeon (outside contractor) called to review findings and discuss surgery. He claims Mom's break was high on the femur, the 1 hour surgery is an easier "fix," and would be more beneficial should another hip injury take place. He offered to help me get inside if he could. I've heard good things about Scripps, but it's NOT true. Take a look at all of my other reviews... I'm 100% honest with good details. DO NOT USE SCRIPPS when you have a choice."

"I have been going to this office for a while and never had problems. Today, I got in and they were having trouble with my insurance. I got married two years ago...I have sen this doctor before AND have had surgery while on the insurance. I was patient as they tried to fix the problem. I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time before going up to the counter. They said they had updated their systems and it messed everything up (while at least 8 people walked in and were seen no problem). I rescheduled my entire day around this appointment and I told her. She asked if I could be seen later today in Solana beach or on Monday...again, no, I just rescheduled my entire day, inconveniencing my clients as well. I waited two months for this appointment and now, because of something on their side, I can’t be seen. Freaking ridiculous"
