"Theater (obviously) plus retail, food, and offices Local people are grateful to this shopping center because it "saved" our local landmark Orinda Theater from demolition back in the 1980's. Legend has it that then-owner Clark Wallace, who was planning on demolishing the theater, was on a flight to Europe and his seatmate asked him where he was from. Mr. Wallace answered, "oh, you've never heard of it, a little town in California called Orinda." The traveler responded "I know it! That's the place with the cool theater! I drive by it all the time!" Thus the theater was saved, and the shopping center was developed around it."
