"Nice looking hotel, nice soaps. Pillows not the best. Be aware the common area is not heated, though not listed on site. So common room is not useful for a number of months of the year. Staff could be a bit more friendly."

"There's a reason this place gets almost all 5 star reviews- it's honestly perfect. If there was a rooftop pool I'd want to move in. It's definitely different. If you love the experience of staying at a hotel, this might not be for you. If you want the feel of an AirBnB with the hotel touches, this is the place. If you like great design, thoughtful touches but don't want to interact with people, this is the place. There is a contactless check-in, you simply punch in your special code. The bar area is set up with complimentary wine in the afternoon and a nice continental breakfast spread in the morning (little Danishes that tasted so fresh, muffins, fruit, etc). There is a lounge area with beautiful seating, a record player with great albums. We stayed in Room 4 and the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. Every detail is well thought out. The main area was a bit warm during the day with a large fan running, but our room was perfectly ACed. We took advantage of the bikes and cruised around the downtown area, all the way to Madonna Inn and to the SLOMA. We also sat outside in the morning with our coffees, which you can prepare with the french presses set up in the kitchen. I don't have plans to be in SLO again, but if I did, I would 100% stay here again. Kelly was The Butler and so helpful with any questions we had. Thanks Kelly!"

"Came to SLO for my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay at The Butler Hotel. This was a new type of stay for us as there is no front desk, however once we walked in we immediately understood that this property was special and didn’t require one. They email and text you the code to the front fore and the code to your room. Upon walking in we were shocked at how nice everything looked and the attention to detail with the design. There was a bottle of wine and local treats on the bar, and cute little reading/sitting area, and the interior design was amazing. As for the room, we loved the tall ceilings, lighting, and bathroom design. Everything just seemed to flow well. I would definitely recommend this place!"

"We rented Room 1. It can be a bit loud, but really didn't bother us. Room is spacious, as is the bathroom. Really liked the shower setup. Everything was very clean. Light and climate controls were modern slide-type. More annoying than convenient. Neither wife nor I could figure out how to adjust temperature. We'd eventually get something to happen, but were never sure how we did it. Probably just us. You will receive a code with your confirmation to access the front door as well as your room. Worked great for us and makes me wonder why we had to wait around to check in at the Westin LAX a couple days later. There are only five or six rooms in the entire hotel. There is a small sitting area and a space where there is a water kettle for coffee (French press) and tea, which are provided. There is also a nice patio area outside the entrance. Free on site parking. Easy walk down Monterrey to downtown area. I would definitely stay again. Looks like a fun place to stay with a group of three or four couples."

"Recently returned to SLO for a friend's wedding and was looking for somewhere cool to stay that was close to downtown. We were very happy with this find! Chic room with a comfortable bed and awesome bathroom. The Butler was our perfect home base for reliving college (minus the red cups and such). I would absolutely stay here again because of the friendly staff and high quality room."
