The Plaza Hotel & Suites

"We stayed here simply to enjoy the pool for a night and relax. While attempting to enjoy said pool, we were faced with a rather unruly crowd in the pool area (which the pool was actually quite nice). These customers were allowed to bring an entire case of beer into the hot tub area, leaving empty cans all over and crowding the public spaces with drunken clientele. Individuals could be seen throwing a football across the pool area, despite there being a notice posted just outside the pool area doors explicitly stating that "No balls are allowed". The group was particularly large, and individuals could be seen loitering around the lobby area holding beer cans and being obnoxious. We attempted to order dinner later that evening from the attached restaurant and were given the wrong order as well. Overall, I feel like management here really needs to step up and enforce their own rules and better handle unruly customers."

"You can tell this was a beautiful hotel in it's prime. The hotel is aging and needs upgrades and touch ups. Our room was a great set up with 2 queens and a pull-out couch for my mom, me and my 19 year old son. The problem was, the pull-out mattress was super worn and uncomfortable, so I put my 19 year old in one queen bed and my mom and I shared the other. It worked. The beds were good. The tub had some rust stains and wear around the drain and some of the wall paper was lifting at the baseboards... showing it's age. Nice bathroom with double sinks to make getting ready easier with two women hogging the counter and mirror. The breakfast is nice, but not hot... there were options to microwave breakfast sandwiches or make oatmeal. Lots of fruit and yogurt and hard boiled eggs to add to your toast or bagels or muffins. Great pool, hot tub, and fitness center area. Everywhere was clean, and well-maintained. Staff was always very helpful and nice."

"Had in laws in town and the grandkids wanted to swim so we got the Family suite . Great place with a little bit of age and glamor of hotels of yesteryear . Will return again as this is the 2nd time we have booked the Family suite ."

"My daughter was getting married in Winona and the Plaza staff were superb! When she was arranging the room block, the staff was extremely efficient and courteous. All information requested was provided very quickly. We gave them about 35 gift bags for our guests and they handed them out to all our guests and we failed to talk to the hotel staff before hand and we should have. They were so helpful, always friendly, asking what they could do to help. Awesome customer service. Our room was awesome. Highly recommend! We had a horrible experience with their neighbor hotel with the room block and gift bags. See the review for Holiday Inn Winona for more on that."

"The king whirlpool suite was lovely! Everything was well cleaned & maintained. The breakfast was simple, but fresh & delicious. The juices were very good & not watered down at all. (I hate when other hotels do this!) The scenery around the hotel is stunning & it's very easy to find! (On the edge of town, directly under Sugar Loaf!) There's also a gas station next door with a very nice convenience/ grocery store!"
