Cafe Sapori di Sicilia

"My wife and I had a great meal at this little gem of an Italian restaurant in Winona. We were thrilled with the quality of the food which brought back fond memories our recent trip to Italy. All the food tasted authentic to the food that we while in Italy which I think is a great tribute to the chef/owner at this restaurant. To start off, the freshly baked rolls were very good. We decided to take a chance on an interesting menu choice of Brussels sprouts of all things and found it to be a surprisingly good dish and certainly worthy of a try if you'd like to be adventurous or simply enjoy Brussels sprouts. We then moved on to the pasta which was simply delicious. We were curious as to why it was so much better than the pasta served at American restaurants as compared to Italy. The chef explained that they use bronze cut dyes to extrude the pasta giving it the ultimate texture and flavor in the same way that it is made in Italy for generations. You just do not find that quality in the US very often in either restaurants or grocery stores. It was great to come to enjoy this incredible pasta locally. We then moved on to tarts and cannoli for dessert. We were incredibly pleased with the decadent flavors. Finally, we could not resist the Gelato getting Black Cherry and strawberry Gelatos. Both were fantastic and filled with flavor. It was a great experience for us and we look forward to getting back to Winona just to get some more of the wonderfully authentic Italian food at Café Sapori di Sicilia."

"What a pleasant surprise! I had never heard of this place before being invited for dinner by friends. The atmosphere is beautiful, the food wonderful and the wine delicious. The biggest surprise was how reasonable the prices were. For such a delicious meal with wine, the bottom line was so affordable. Go to try their breads and coffee and indulge in dessert, but please explore their food. The FAgioli was so delicious and comforting coupled with two kinds of Foccacia for dipping. The bowl was generous and perfect for the rainy December evening. My companions had the Lasagna, the Carbonara and the Casio e Pepe. We all had plenty for sampling and even some to take home. Delicious! Dessert was Tiramisu - a portion just right for one or two - with prices to match! Service is excellent with counter ordering. At first I questioned this, but it gave us control of the timing and attention we wanted. This is a MUST DO restaurant in Winona. It was well worth the drive from Rochester."

"Great Italian cafe! Wide variety of pasta, sandwich, bread and dessert options. I got the mortadella sandwich, it was a very generous portion. Pistachio gelato was also very good. You order/pay at the counter and then seating is first come first serve with a number. Prices seemed fair. Very cute inside, order ahead is available. Staff was very friendly - would recommend and we will be back!"

"Amazing food!! So worth visiting! My friend and I ate in. You may order ahead or doordash. The service was good. Would have been nice to have table service at a restaurant like this, but it definitely did not ruin the foodie experience one bit! It was sooo good!! Fresh hand-made pasta. - you can taste the labor of love in each dish! If I am being critical of the establishment, it would be nice to do something different with the front counter area/ backdrop. The brand consistent hue of paint on the walls and the way the area is set up... cheapened the presentation of the space. The remainder of the space is quite elegant and simple!"

"Sapori di Sicilia is nice inside, something like fast-casual style - although more than that. Rating this restaurant from one dinner experience, rating around 4.3. Every food item we tried was at least good if not excellent. Service was at times great, at times acceptable. The look and feel is great, especially for this category of restaurant. The descriptions and ingredients of some items did not match what was actually served in some cases, the main reason for this not being over 4.5 IMO. Definitely recommend though."
