"Frustrating Experience: Self-Checkout Woes Amplified by Poor Customer Service As a frequent shopper, I recently encountered a disheartening experience at a due to its malfunctioning self-checkout system coupled with inadequate customer service. The convenience promised by self-checkout turned into a nightmare, exacerbated by unresponsive staff and no checkout lane with staff. As consumers, we expect convenience and support from retailers, and when these expectations are not met, it undermines our trust and loyalty as i am customer day one store was opened. This serves as a reminder for businesses to prioritize both technological reliability and customer-centric service to foster positive interactions and long-term relationships with their clientele."

"Some may miss the old Pick 'n Save, and some may still be upset that Sendik's closed because of the competition. I just miss the old Metro Market (pre-Covid), the one where the parking lot didn't smell like marijuana 24/7. Over the last few years this place has taken a nose dive. The prices are sky high and the employees seem like they'd rather be anywhere but there. But the worst part is how the clientele has changed. I was just there today with my two kids, and when we got of our car on the 2nd level, there were a few people hotboxing a white Mercedes SUV. They noticed me notice them, and then opened up the car door to say something. I had my two kids with me and was not the least bit interested in engaging in conversation. Fortunately, by the time we came back they were gone, but I was ready to call the police if need be. I swear the Shorewood Police Department could have a field day busting people getting high in that parking lot. Oh yeah, and there was a shooting there last year. That's right, someone fired a gun in the parking lot of a grocery store. I dread going there now, and will only do so if absolutely necessary."

"Never going back to Metro market or any Kroger store. 1) It's insane how awful the self checkout is! As a programmer, I'm not sure I could design a worse system if I tried. We had 3 issues that required employee intervention, each time waiting about 5 minutes. Meanwhile other stations had issues needing an employee, and the line kept growing. 2) They've replaced most checkout lanes with self checkout. Meaning the only option is the self checkout that doesn't work. 3) They use facial recognition, shown off by the front door security cam and monitor. On the monitor, it draws a box around your face. Creepy."

"I like the produce and the selection of chilis here. However, they converted every checkout to be self check out. They want every customer to work for them for free while giving everyone the added bonus of super slow lines. This is awful..."

"For as busy as Metro is, it is always clean and inventory is filled. You can’t go wrong with a grocery store that has a bar! Parking ample, safe neighborhood, staff is 50/50 regarding attentiveness. Most are wearing ear buds and don’t even make eye contact with you…but for all the reasons that you go to a grocery store, MM checks them all, great job team!"
