"I would definitely recommend reading a few reviews before hiking at this location. We got things figured out before we left, but it would have gone better had we done our homework first. We paid our $12 (mistake #1) and we were excited to get moving, so we initially took the "trail" right behind the signage near the parking kiosk. This path was steep, overgrown and somewhat dead-ended us into a steep, muddy creek embankment which we did not want to try to navigate. We figured we did something wrong and read a few reviews with the bar or two of connectivity we had. This is how we learned the correct path to take was back down the parking lot, along the PCH for 40 yards or so and then into the wild. This path was wider and better cared for, which made the rest of our hike more pleasant."

"Beautiful views. Good elevation gains. The trail is very overgrown. To pay for parking is ridiculous when you can park for free on the PCH. I usually like to hike further away from civilization, but for my situation at the time, the hike was entertaining enough."

"Very nice views. Nice for hiking. Mountain biking is nice but mainly fire roads. There is at least one cool singletrack downhill. It gets hot. Take plenty of water and sun protection. Not many shade areas"

"Amazing trail that is not too difficult to hike up. I highly recommend hiking up the left side to complete the loop. You'll get the best views that way. Plentiful free parking along Pacific coast highway. Be sure to stop by the restaurant at the foothill. It's absolutely amazing."
