About the Business

Point Mugu State Park

Point Mugu State Park, located in Malibu, California, is a stunning park in the Santa Monica Mountains with five miles of ocean shoreline, rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, and rugged hills. The park features two campgrounds, Sycamore Canyon and Thornhill Broome, where visitors can enjoy camping with trailers or campers up to 31 feet in length. Dogs are allowed in the campgrounds and day-use areas, but not on the trails.

Visitors can explore over 70 miles of hiking trails, swim, body surf, and fish along the beach, and admire the jagged pinnacles of the Boney Mountains State Wilderness Area. The park also offers educational and interpretive programs for those interested in learning more about the natural surroundings.

For those looking to host special events or weddings, Point Mugu State Park offers a picturesque setting with breathtaking views. The park's amenities include token-operated showers, fire rings for burning firewood, Duraflame, and charcoal briquettes, and a policy for bicycles and unmanned aircraft systems.

Whether you're looking for a relaxing camping trip, a day of hiking and beach activities, or a beautiful venue for a special event, Point Mugu State Park has something to offer for everyone.

"What a neat little cove beach along California Hwy 1. Waves are rough so I wouldn’t recommend swimming but you can walk along the edge of the water just fine. This is a good picture spot. There are grills you can use to cook some food and porta potty toilets. Drinking fountains are available as well."

"Quiet, calming, beautiful. Great place to stop by and just be at peace with the world. The ocean makes a beautiful sound as it recedes from the rocks/pebbles."

"I'm not sure how badly this park faired after the surge of the Paciffc on 12/29/2023. Before we were told to leave. The campsites were 35' wide and comfortable. The mixture of RV'S and tent camping was 50/50. To be able to camp on the beach was an experience that I had waited for my lifetime from Connecticut."

"Nice and dog friendly campground within 20-40 steps walking into the ocean. Will be back again for sure. However, you need to book the campsite online because there are limited sites."
