"PROS: The service at the Marriott Renaissance Walnut Creek is amazing. Everyone has been so kind! It is also very quiet which is always nice! CONS: -location is less than ideal if you are looking for downtown Walnut Creek which is about a 45 min walk away -the parking lot appears to be primarily designated for a large gym that is located in the hotel and does not have an elevator. You can carry your bag up a flight of stairs or walk back out of the parking garage and around to the front of the hotel -the decor is dated and looks like you are walking on to a Disney cruise ship for some reason -as a solo female traveler I immediately noticed the door to the bathroom was shut so I cautiously opened and immediately realized the door had been shut to keep the overwhelming mold smell out of the room. There are mold spores on the ceiling and along every seam of wallpaper, in the shower and around the sink. I’ve been Platinum for 10 years with Marriott and never requested a room change until today because I am truly worried about this mold and its potential to make guests ill."

"We stayed for the second time In a year. Our room, 226 was fine up until the last day/night when the bathroom sink had slowed up to drain out ( we did not rinse dishes with food on them..gross. only for brushing teeth) . We also had a wi-fi issue with the connection after we signed in, that was ANNOYING and my husband was irritated. We did not have a problem on our last stay, hence the 3 star rating."

"Another reviewer said it first, it is a gym with rooms attached. I would liken it to a really nice gym and pool (neither of which I used) attached to a hostel. The hotel used to have valet parking service, which is helpful to me as I travel with considerable gear. I was advised that it ceased with the pandemic. That pandemic gets blamed for all the reductions in service. It has a restaurant/ lounge area. When I arrived at 7:00 pm it was closed due to "staffing issues". In summary, if you need a first class work out facility when you travel, this place is for you. If you appreciate a full service hotel when you travel this is not the place for you."

"The hotel is worn out and in need of remodeling. Carpet worn and stained. Need hard flooring instead. Desk chair filthy. It just needs remodeling! Price high for what it is. Sink water can’t be regulated. Gets scalding hot. A/C and heat not functioning well. Bed is worn out also. You have to reserve housekeeping. What do they think we are paying for? I don’t get it. All the hotels in this area are awful but they all charge a lot. I don’t understand. Californians are used to this ridiculous pricing but people from other states must think “ we paid how much for this?” Rooms are not in good condition. They don’t have porters or full services anymore. It’s in the suburbs of WALNUT CREEK! Haha Shameful and silly Staff is nice Embassy suites across the street is a dive party hotel. Depressing worn out, ugly rooms. Can’t win in this area."
