Amanzi Hotel, Ascend Hotel Collection

"I hate leaving reviews like this, but I need to warn others who book online!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in my life, but this I believe was by far the worst. First off THE ENTIRE PLACE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION! Construction workers everywhere! It is 7 am. I believe my son and I are only none constructing workers staying here . I got no sleep due to bright lights that they leave on all night!! leaving my already openly viewed see thru-curtain-room (see picture). Back to it being 7 am. Construction workers are outside my room now banging on the walls. Staring in our room at me and my young child. You would think they paid us to stay here! Nope it was actually quite expensive. Only nice thing is the beach is close. Not close enough though, and not very safe. Had to walk past a few different individuals smoking pot. On the way back I saw the construction worker’s doing drugs through ya know those see-through-curtains again. The entire place smells moldy. It just has been a very uncomfortable and experience. Shame on them for even advertising online with the conditions like this!!! I do not see anywhere in description talking about the entire place under construction whatsoever."

"Stayed here a couple of nights at the end of a road trip before returning to LAX for our flight home. Nice clean hotel, good service, good value, good parking and good experience overall. Would definitely return if we visit Ventura in future."

"Not fancy, but clean and recently renovated. Friendly staff. We have stayed here twice in the off-season so we can spend days on the beach. Hope to be back before too long! An easy get away at a reasonable price."

"Rooms were big, kept clean, AC worked great. Staff was awesome... Felt safe here. Signed paper for no pets or smoking which was ok for me but you might want to call to check options if that's you. I deducted 1 star cause I could hear the people above me walking back an forth and doing things. It's next to the freeway but that wasn't too bad the AC drowned it out. It's also next to a train, possible metro which actually sounded nice. It was the noise from the people walking above that was bothersome. After I added brown noise to my phone I was good to sleep. They also have breakfast options and 12pm check out that I personally love. Also they have a parking garage below, with an elevator, more parking on the side and in the front. 7 min walk to down town, 10-12 min walk to the beach. I'd def go back."

"Good clean rooms great breakfast too. The pillows are down and the mattresses are comfortable. This place is worth the price only down side is it's a little bit of a distance to a smoking area -which only matters if you smoke and is great if you don't!"
