"A lovely, quiet spot on the San Lorenzo River. I enjoyed my stay. The internet was disappointing and couldn't handle any basic streaming. Not ideal for anyone that likes to watch their shows/movies at night. The kitchen was ok but didn't provide any pans to cook in the oven which was also disappointing. I have the same oven and you can get smaller but good pans that will fit."

"What a wonderful location! The pictures don’t do it justice. The cabins are located in a beautiful surrounding of majestic redwood trees. We stayed in a cabin overlooking the river and with the morning mist it was breathtaking. The nearby town of Felton is also charming and we got great coffee at the Grove. Make sure to book and arrive early, we made the mistake of just showing up quite late and ended up waking the owner (so sorry!). She was kind enough to help us anyway. I highly recommend!"

"I booked Cabin #8 but was informed at check-in I was being moved to #7 due to some ants in the kitchen the night before. Upon mentioning that I reserved #8 on their website, the response wasn't apologetic but rather a not-very-professional "What you want ants?" If the prior guest checked out at 11am and I checked in at 3:30, that would be over four hours to spray the affected area and let things air out. We just stayed a night with no plans to cook so it would have been nice to at least give me the option to take #8 (better river view from #8) rather that just give me a cabin I didn't book. Another star is knocked off for their website pricing presentation. If your own site shows $100, the price shouldn't jump 30% when you click through to book (a $10 resort fee and a mysterious $6 Green Initiative are then shown in addition to taxes). Things should be honest and straightforward on a property's own website with prices before gov't taxes. Instead they take the low-road approach with the resort-fee / add-on shenanigans. Aside from that, we had a really nice evening. The cabin was super cute, clean and cozy and the heater did a great job. The river setting was a nice treat."

"It's a really beautiful place. Self-service check-in. The room faces the river. The room is very clean and well-equipped. Because it is surrounded by trees, ants will be found in the house. You have to protect the food. It rained lightly that day. I found a big mosquito, so be sure to bring mosquito repellent. It's very close to the town and everything is very convenient. I'm looking forward to coming back again in the summer."

"We spent three nights at the Fern River Resort recently. Nicole is a very kind and caring host. The event for our group was very well organized. The cabins are well furnished with a kitchenette which made prepping for light meals very convenient. Grocery stores and other amenities are just a mile away from the retreat. The Redwoods and the river are magical. Will be visiting very soon. Thank you."
