"I don't know if the Albertsons worker was special needs or just trying to be playful/annoying but yesterday my wife was stopped by this guy because of what she was wearing and just wouldn't take no/and other negative responses that would have a normal person stop bothering customers. Eventually he gave up with a "if that's what you really mean". Wife was wearing an SOU Raiders shirt and he just kept trying to talk her into saying she was a fan of them. It took awhile for him to stop and it felt like having someone beg for money and then ignoring you when you say no, and then they try and try again. Except in this case we were in the store and this was from a worker. If this is the deal we have to go through while trying to shop here, we'll just go elsewhere. It was as annoying as when someone from Lithia saw us in Fred Meyer and then tried to continue to sell us a car while we're trying to just get groceries. The other issue I see is if you're in self-checkout, you don't get any discounts applied, like clearance or digital coupons until you have the worker activate them for you. So if you aren't paying attention or are just trying to get through as fast as you can, you lose out on the discounts while Albertsons comes out the winner, keeping money they aren't entitled to, just by adding a barrier."
