"I had been a patient for several years now, but I've had enough. The dental technicians are great, but the billing and handling of insurance is horrid. Nearly every time there were additional bills, after I was assured they were doing only work that was covered. The last two times they scheduled cleanings that were not going to be covered, only to find out when I arrived. They charge $95 for missed appointments, but have no problem wasting my time through shear incompetence. There are 40 text messages before any appointment, but they can't seem to be honest about charges."
"I've never had this bad of an experience in any professional setting before. After ~2 years of being a patient here, I've decided to hang up my hat and move to another practice. My reason? Dr. Levi's billing department / front office staff provides one of the worst patient experiences that I have ever come across in a healthcare setting. If you can stomach that & are proficient in dealing with healthcare prices / lingo, the quality of care that Dr. Levi and associates provided was fine (comparable to any other dentist). Turns out I wasn't able to navigate those conversations & I was severely burned and tossed to the side by this practice. It truly felt like I was viewed as an open wallet and not a patient. Was I unlucky? Probably - I'm hoping that I had a worse than average experience and that it won't happen to you. Is some of this on me? Likely & I've learned a lot from this experience to help make sure this never happens to me in the future. Can I recommend this practice to you? Hell no & I strongly urge you to take the negative reviews about the front of office staff seriously. If you are still on the fence, here's some reasons why I feel the way that I do. Feel free to take them into account as you choose a dentist. 1. Dr. Levi's billing is either predatory or incompetent (not sure which one is worse) - Front office routinely 'carries credit over' from insurance payments, but then accuses you of not paying for the last visit (it looks like they track payments on a pretty janky spreadsheet) - This practice routinely charges in the greatest 10% of prices for routine dental services nationwide (Found using data from national price transparency laws that recently went into effect) - Prices for bonds & retainers were underquoted to me at time of consultation & almost doubled when it came time for me to pay. Granted the dental hygienist was quoting me and I didn't realize how much I should have taken that information as not true. - Multiple email threads about asking how to navigate the patient-insurance relationship (asking for resources to appeal, timely filing for claims, etc.) were ignored and responded to with 'overdue balance - please pay now' emails. 2. Dr. Levi's practice is inconsiderate of their patients' time. - Multiple appointments that I had scheduled resulted in me waiting 1+ hour in their waiting room - One appointment that I had to pickup a retainer was rescheduled WHEN I WAS IN THE OFFICE because they were unsure of my willingness to pay for the service (this was in response to me asking for clarification on my insurance policy). Even if they were concerned, they could have cancelled me before showing up - When I finally picked up my retainer, they had made it for another person's set of teeth and I had to come back AGAIN - When I finally picked up my retainer, they had tried to charge me a copay for each of the visits that were their fault In the end, I decided to pay my balance, accept whatever fault was mine & move on from this awful dental experience. Hope this helps anyone on the fence about this place."
