Best Hair Care

"tl;dr: Wash, dry, and women’s medium-long length haircut for $50 before tip! I was looking for an Asian salon in or close to Tustin and came across great reviews for Best Hair Care. I called Wednesday at 9:30am to make an appointment for as early as possible, and Wendy asked me to come by at 10:30am. I got there at 10:35am and waited 5 minutes for Wendy to finish with the previous client. Once I sat down, Wendy asked what I was looking for. I told Wendy I was looking to 1) thin my hair again with invisible layers, and 2) preserve my medium-long length hair. I shared that, back in Jan 2023, I had gone to a salon in Malaysia, and the stylist gave me a great haircut with invisible layers (layers on the inside that really lightened my hair) and a wavy perm that added volume. Miraculously, my perm has stuck around all these months despite my thick, stubborn hair. And this trip to Best Hair Care was my first salon visit since Jan 2023. Wendy asked if I would allow her to cut off a bit of length to restore a healthy look, which I obliged. She then asked if I wanted to wash my hair; when I told her I didn’t need to, she said that my hair would be hard to cut without a wash, so I obliged again. Throughout the hour-long wash, dry, and cut, we chatted about various things: how she emigrated from Vietnam and learned to cut hair in America; how experience matters with cutting hair; how she used to have a salon in Westminster, and how cutting hair in Tustin improved her English by way of the clientele; how nail services make more money but is harder to keep doing as you get older. She was very sweet, both respecting my wishes as a client while also offering her opinion on my haircut. She straightened my hair so that she could evenly cut the length, especially the back. She also convinced me to get face-framing bangs because they’re trendy right now. My wash, dry, and cut was $50 before tip. Credit card accepted, and I tipped in cash. My hair looked fantastic and felt as light as a feather! The next day, I still hadn’t washed my hair, and things didn’t look as great: my hair’s natural asymmetrical kinks made the outside layers more obvious than I wanted, and my face-framing bangs were a bit too short for a ponytail. However, when I washed my hair the day after, the waves in my perm reappeared, and I LOVED my haircut. The inside layers lightened my hair and made the waves more pronounced, and the outside layers gave my perm more shape. Overall, I’m very happy with my haircut. Wendy is very sweet and experienced, and she’s willing to both listen to the client and advise the client. Prices are reasonable, and the location next to Cream Pan can’t be beat. I recommend making a reservation just so that the stylist can tell you a good time to come. Highly recommend!"
