Big O Tires

"Big O Tired I got a flat tire near this Big O Tires location. I called them and spoke with Will, who efficiently checked their tire inventory after I provided my car details. I arrived with my spare tire, but eventually decided to get all 4 new tires. It would entail a roughly 2-hour wait due to have all the tires replaced, but they were able to get to my car early and finished about an hour before their original estimate which was great! However, shortly after leaving, I experienced another TWO FLAT TIRES within 10 minutes of driving down Highway 5. I was on a solo road trip and this immediately caused immense anxiety, due to the uncontrollable SWERVING that my car started to experience on the freeway, and several other cars had to DODGE me as I tried to exit the freeway. I called the Big O Tires back and told them about the issue and they told me to take it back to them. I first stopped at a nearby auto shop, and the technician there said the guys from Big O Tires had FORGOTTEN to close the valves on both right-side tires! Gratefully, the auto shop technician filled the tires with air and replaced the valves at no charge. Big O Tires negligence endangered not only my safety but also that of other drivers, and such a dumb mistake on their part could have easily caused a multi-car wreck on the freeway. After returning to Big O Tires, I was disheartened by their lack of acknowledgment of fault. Instead of receiving empathy or accountability from the associate, I was dismissed and redirected to the manager, with a wait time of at least an hour. The manager gave me some crap about a nail in the tire causing it to go flat… I was so overwhelmed by the gravity of the situation, in addition to the inconvenience they put me through, I was frustrated and even emotional, whereas the Big O Tires staff had no recognition of the severity of their mistake. They also didn’t offer any partial refund or discount. The best they could offer was a sensor payment that was $60 as compensation for all of the trouble related to my $797 service. Luckily I had the warrantee or else they would have charged me for the additional service!! If I had been in an accident, lawyers would definitely be involved and surely would have recognized Big O Tires was at fault. I hope this warns future customers about their negligence and to avoid doing business with them or at the very least be sure to have them double check their services.."

"I have 6 vehicles. All have had tires done by this office. The last few time I felt I was getting tricked into more services. But today was last straw. Emergency. Tire got punctured. Slow leak. It was 5 pm and they close at 8. I asked if someone can just plug. These were new tires. It was part of their service. They said couldn’t do it within 3 hour. I called Midas. They were just closing. They told me to come in right away. Fixed in 7 min. No cost. Will never use Big O again. That is $4000 per year. I guess they don’t need me."

"Last year I purchased a couple of tires from this Irvine Big-O tires location, which came with a 36,000 mile warranty for minor checkups and repairs. Recently, one of the tires was leaking air (I came out to it in my garage and even noticed it was flat one day), so I took my car in here to get it checked. They ran some test on that wheel/tire and said that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. The rep who handed me my keys said something to the effect of "I don't know, maybe someone is pranking you or something," which struck me as a really asinine comment considering that my car is garaged each night. It felt like gaslighting and that maybe he was the one doing the pranking. A couple days later, sure enough my low tire pressure light is on again so I filled it back up and called back to this location. I told the guy that my tire was still leaking and so he suggested that I drop my car at his station for an entire day or overnight so that they can personally observe what's going on. This again seemed like a really stupid suggestion, because while I'm no expert, I can't imagine diagnosing one leaky tire should require me to drop off my car overnight. I told him this and he got defensive, saying "Oh well what if it's the rim? Why should I replace your tire if the problem is with the rim?" Again, I felt like I was being gaslighted and that he should have been able to properly diagnose the problem the first time, so I ended the call in frustration. The next day, I took my car to the Tustin Big-O tires location, without an appointment, and they had my tire properly diagnosed (screw puncture) and fixed under warranty in less than two hours. Top notch service over there. Terrible service at this Irvine franchise."

"Been coming here for many years now and have always had a pleasant time. The staff is nice, the price is reasonable and the tire replacements are done quickly. I never feel pressure for any upsells."

"I spent thousands of dollars and countless hours between two different shops in Utah trying to eliminate a slight high pitch squeal from my brakes when used at low speeds. I came here for an oil change and tire rotation (having given up on it ever being corrected) and to my surprise, it was gone when driving off the lot! I can't recreate the sound, even if I try. Can't say thank you enough. Whatever this shop does as part of a routine process to make sure everything is ready to go is beyond what an Acura dealer and another shop in Utah could do with extensive "repairs" and countless hours of labor charged. Again, thank you! I've only been once and can't speak to the 1 star reviews (but they all seem to be from awhile ago). My experience all around was great, and the conversations I overheard while waiting for my car make me believe the present staff is as honest as they come. Things like "this is recommended now, but if you're not trying to put the money into the car, you can get another X months at least before X part wearing down is problematic at all". But also warning when not correcting something could damage another part. (I overheard several calls and customers coming in while in the waiting area) At first I was disappointed because it seemed a long wait for a tire rotation and oil change - but you can't rush quality! My only regret is not finding them sooner."
