"Every time I review this place it just keeps getting better! Take 3...I changed up my typical lunch special for the veggie lasagna and went with a cup of coffee - pretty good roast for diner brew. The veggie lasagna and meat marinara combo delivered a little bit of everything and was by far the best option of the two lasagnas. I especially loved the artichokes making up the thickness of the dish...still with the classic extra cheesy gooeyness, perfect meat marinara, and fantastic lasagna noodles - never did I ever and I'm so glad I did and only wish I woulda sooner with the veggie lasagna! Sauce comes in either marinara or meat marinara. See video below for this reviews latest footage Feb'24. Still The BEST pizza house and Italian restaurant since 1954!!! A classic spot in the heart of San Diego where the high quality delicious food, comforting atmosphere, fair prices, and exceptional customer service keeps me coming back! Their lunch specials are stellar deals and their pizza is famous for fresh ingredients and the perfect crust! I was nearly heartbroken at the potential of them closing after the pandemic, but the love from the town pitched in and their reputation kept them alive!! If you're a pizza fan, this place is a gem that will give you great memories for a lifetime. I always get the lasagna dinner, a hefty serving of ooey-gooey cheesy meaty saucy deliciousness served in a bubbling hot casserole dish, it's definitely a crowd pleaser and a filling comfort dish. The salad with their homemade Italian dressing is STILL the best around - I always ask for an extra serving cup to take home ;) And, once again, the pizza is phenomenal here!! The crust is perfect thickness and crispness! I always get the Mediterranean with artichokes - Just filling yet light enough to share and enjoy other appetizers! Of course, Still the best hospitality and customer care - quite exceptional. If you're stills reading this, debate your hoices no more - get in your car and drive on over to find ample parking and enjoy a classic most tasty meal to remember :)"
"Small little Italian restaurant with really yummy pizza. The crust is thinner and not doughy or bready. The manicotti was also good, but it is the spongy crepe texture, and not made from the typical pasta sheets. Although flavorful, the meat sauce was lacking meat. I would rate it 7.5-10 for that. I really did enjoy how it was really stuffed with melted cheese, and topped with even more cheese. We chose that as a dinner instead of a La carte and paired it with their lentil soup. The soup was not good at all. Extremely bland without texture, so that was very disappointing. It did smell heavily of oregano, but absolutely no flavor at all. We did order the garlic bread as an appetizer and that lacked flavor as well. It was lightly coated with granulated garlic instead of garlic chunks, which I prefer. There is parking in the back alley as well as in the front on the Main Street. We have not been here since pre-covid, but the inside setting has not changed, not has the pizza. The interior is smaller, so you can enjoy your food in a quieter atmosphere without so many people around you. The service was attentive and friendly."
"We had take out so I can’t critique the atmosphere or service. I picked up a pesto sauce, basil and ricotta pizza pie. As you can see from the photo there are already two slices gone, which means it was tasty. Total price was about $26, which was decent as it’s weirdly hard to find good pizza near North Pork."
"Tonight we went to Venice Pizza House and didn’t actually have pizza. They had a Dinner for 2 special this week which featured a choice of appetizer or salad, two main dishes and a dessert for a special price. We chose the small antipasto salad for our starter and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve always loved Venice’s Italian dressing and it was clear that even though they have new owners that the recipes haven’t changed. For our mains we ordered the Lasagna and Chicken Parmesan dinners to split. The lasagna can be ordered with meat or veggies and we ordered with meat. It was absolutely delicious and the cheese and pasta practically melted in the mouth. The Chicken Parmesan featured two nice size pieces of chicken breast and was covered in cheese. I found it a little odd they didn’t give at least a side of spaghetti but there was so much food that it wasn’t really needed. Both meals came with garlic bread which was toasted perfectly. Last was dessert and we chose the Limoncello Cake which was moist and refreshing. We really enjoyed the entire meal. Inside the restaurant was slower than I remember from years ago when I’d dine here on Sundays but it’s possible it was just the night. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and our waiter was a young man who said his family owned the restaurant but that they still had the same cooks and nothing had changed. He was attentive and ensured we were taken care of throughout the meal. They had older sing along music on the radio and seemed to have quite a few carry outs while we were there. There is plenty of parking in back or you can try to grab street parking in front. I hope things will go well with the new owners because this restaurant has been a long time and has solid Italian food and pizzas."
"Tasty spot. Glad to have tried it out finally. Stopped in on a Friday so the front desk was definitely a bit hectic and included a 45 min wait for a pizza that turned into an hour. Had no idea it was gonna be that long to begin with. Understandable though. Had a glass of wine to pass the time. Also ordered 12 wings and if I had been aware of the price of them, I probably would’ve just passed. Lastly, the ranch. As a ranch enthusiast, I was disappointed to see that they had given Kens ranch. Seeing the responses, they thrive on fresh ingredients and I would hope that the ranch would be homemade at least. Overall, pizza is really good and look forward to returning."
