Shrine Coffee is a unique non-profit community coffeehouse located in Santa Cruz, California. As an extension of the Shrine ministry of the Oblates of St. Joseph, Shrine Coffee aims to evangelize through the culture of encounter, welcoming all people at whatever stage they may be in life's journey. Since 1952, the Shrine of St. Joseph has been a place of pilgrimage and devotion, inviting both tourists and locals to deepen their prayer life. With the addition of Shrine Coffee, the community seeks to open its doors to neighbors and spread the message of Christ.

Shrine Coffee offers a space for renewal during this time of new evangelization within the Church. The founders strive to maintain a state of life-long pilgrimage and provide an oasis from the divide between mind and spirit that modern society often faces. Through craft, hospitality, and fidelity, Shrine Coffee promotes beauty and goodness in service of the truth.

The coffeehouse emphasizes quality and artisanal craftsmanship in its offerings, drawing inspiration from the Catholic Church's tradition of expressing beauty through culinary arts. Contributions to Shrine Coffee are tax-deductible, and support can be given through their website. The community is grateful for any spiritual or financial assistance in completing the building of Shrine Coffee. The institution is faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church and invites visitors to learn more about the Roman Catholic Diocese of Monterey.

"Visited from Salt Lake City and wanted to find a unique coffee shop to visit during our stay in Santa Cruz, and this was it!! Loved the atmosphere. The indoor seating was cozy. The staff were skilled and super friendly, and my order was one of the best lattes I've had in a long time. Not only provided good coffee and service but an amazing view! We loved the outdoor seating as well and how spacious it is. Definitely stop by for a unique experience here if you're visiting Santa Cruz, no affiliation needed!"

"I couldn’t have chosen a better day to visit Santa Cruz as the weather was amazing so I decided what better to do than grab a coffee and walk along West Cliff. I ordered a simple Vanilla and Honey Latte here and it was perfect. You know the true skill of someone’s craft if they can master simplicity. If I’m back in Santa Cruz again I’ll be stopping here. 5/5."

"I have to admit, I was actually super nervous about going into a church for well-rated coffee. Was it just the parishioners that banded together to rate it? Would I burn? I was so delighted that I stayed the course and gathered the courage to enter. The atmosphere is beautiful, both the indoor cool vibe and the peaceful outdoor seating that is surrounded by incredible gardens. The coffee was also divine! (Pun intended) I had the cappuccino which came with lovely art and a delicious taste. I highly recommend that you stop in if you are anywhere near Santa Cruz. I loved it so much I even bought the beans. (Sanctuary!)"
