Nello's Place

"My husband and I both tried Nello's place for the first time on Sunday night. I wanted to take him to a nice, romantic dinner for his birthday, and did several searches for the best restaurant in this area, as we typically don't go out to super nice places, and Nello's kept coming up with tons of great reviews. We were definitely not disappointed! The atmosphere is wonderful and romantic, all the servers were incredibly polite, professional and helpful, and the food was delicious! We didn't need appetizers as they bring warm bread and an antipasto plate before you order. My husband ordered the Steak Diane, which was so fun to watch being cooked near our table. The steak was cooked perfectly, and tasted divine. I got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, which was also excellent. The sauce did seem a little bland to me, with a little too much sweetness and not quite enough salt, but it was still very good. I love that they hand out roses to the ladies before you leave. Our bill came out to just a little over $100, which seems very reasonable for a special steak, a regular entree, and a glass of wine. No dessert or appetizers, as I mentioned. Overall, we loved our experience and will definitely be back for the next special occasion!"

"Worst place I've ate at in all of Redding and I've been here 11yrs . I had spaghetti and meatballs and a dinner salad. I received 1 meatball and watered down nasty sauce.. my salad was nothing but lettuce smothered in oil and vinegar. No tomato/ No cucumber/ no carrots just leaf lettuce. If you would even call this a salad you need your head examined. We had a group of 17 and they would not even do your own checks to each couple. All 17 were on one check for us to figure it out. I do now this 1 and done . This is not authentic Italian food at all. 17 people and 582.00 without tip. I could have spent that and everybody would have had steak and lobster with salad . Sorry but this is the truth! Atmosphere was nice and staff was nice but food sucks and so over priced . Get a real Italian cook/ chef but you better change or close shop."

"I've been in the area my entire life but haven't tried Nello's until now. I've been missing out. A party of 6 of us came to Nello's and every one of us enjoyed it. I had the steak Diane, which was prepared tableside. Hands down the best steak Diane I've ever had. Husband had the lamb chops and he said they were amazing. We will definitely be back!"

"Ok this was such an amazing experience… Reminds me of being a kid and the places i used to go with my Familia… Nellos you blew me away from the antipasto salad to the house dinner salad with bay shrimp, then the Cannelloni followed up by the Salto In Bocca (Romana). Best meal i have had in years."

"Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and fine Italian food. We visited on a Wednesday evening and were seated pretty quickly. Our waiter, Guido, took our drink order then came back with some warm Italian bread and a small anti pasta plate. Nice start! We ordered dinner and the Caesar Salad - which the make table side. Very traditional. The salad making was great - the salads large and incredible taste! Classic Caesar dressing made with EVOO, egg yolk and anchovies! Finally our main course (we split a veal parmigiana) which was very tasty. 2 nice veal patties with cheese and delicious marinara sauce, a small side of penne and some crisp tender zucchini slices. We we too stuffed for dessert, but from looking at a few that went by our table - they looked perfect."
