Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken

"Wow! Hands down the best restaurant I’ve eaten at in Knoxville! Everything was super delicious. Sweet tea amazing. Fried green tomatoes were the best I’ve ever had. Fried okra was perfect. Mac n cheese you can tell is homemade and layered with cheese. Cole slaw fresh and has a great base. The chicken was outstanding, perfect amount of heat, fresh, and overall just super good. Paired with top notch service by Kim. She was very attentive and you can tell makes her customers the highest priority. She was very welcoming, never let our glasses even get close to halfway empty. Blown away by outstanding service. The restaurant was also very clean."

"So glad we stopped at Gus's for lunch while visiting the area. Great down home atmosphere. Antique and old tin signs line the walls. Checkered tablecloths and lots of fried chicken and fried catfish being brought out to the tables or packed up for 'to go' orders. Great open kitchen so you can watch the process. Our server was delightful and helped us know what was best to try for our specific spice likes. We had chicken tenders for three less spicy crowd and regular chicken in the bones for a little more kick. All served with a slice of white bread. We added fried okra and coleslaw as well. Unfortunately the first couple tenders were super dry. Like almost hard to swallow. The last one was tender and juicier. Loved the coleslaw, nice mild creamy flavor and texture. Fried okra was a bit flavorless and mealy. Spice was just right. The bone in was super juicy and great flavor. Thanks so much for the experience."

"My first time at Gus’s. World famous isn’t quite what I would refer it as. The chicken was good. The crust had a nice crisp, the meat was tender and juicy. The greens were nice, flavorful and balcony. The potato salad was a first, it was sweet which was new for me. Not my preference but it had a nice blend of flavors. The baked beans seemed no better than something out of a can. The Mac and cheese was nice and creamy by not spectacular. I’m not going miss this place."

"Service was phenomenal. I didn’t get the waitresses name but she was middle aged and kept my cup more the 2/3s full at all times. Super chatty and gave great recommendations. Chicken is solid! Max n cheese was delicious as well. I mean they have the trifecta. Good tea, chicken, and sides. Service was the cherry on top!"

"I recently ate at Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken restaurant and I recently got Gus's for Delivery via DoorDash. I love Gus's Fried Chicken, their recipe has just enough Spice in it for my Tastes. I family likes their Fried Chicken but silently complain to me that its too spicy. I think they are wrong but to each their own. I personally prefer the Dark Meat chicken still on the bone because it is moist and not difficult to eat. So, between the spice in the Gu's recipe and the Dark Meat, its a winning combination for me. Also, the Mac-n-cheese at Gus's is wonderful, it's tasty & yummy. Plus the Baked Beans with the hidden hints of sweetness and onions is unbelievable. The Fried Okra is amazing, it remember me of how my Grandmother used to make it growing up. I am not a fan of pickles but there Fried Pickles are on a whole different level. And, the Desserts and so yummy, especially the Chocolate Chess Pie Slice, Pecan Pie Slice, Sweet Potato Pie Slice and the Coconut Pie Slice. I highly recommend Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken to everyone, it is a must have for sure. Their restaurant is clean, plenty of parking, Wheelchair accessible as well, The Staff are friendly & helpful."
