Crab Orchard Campground

"If you’re going to swim in this lake be aware there are a lot of very large turtles, Thousands of snakes in the water and all over the shoreline! If you see a mower running ,hide !! they do not use safety equipment. People, vehicles ,and trailers have been hit by flying rocks!! They don’t care. I volunteered there for five weeks and watch them play Favorites letting people move from one side to another instead of having to leave for three days. Not fair to other campers. And they don’t care. Fish and wildlife service oversee this park with a blind eye and a long arm. Absolutely no management or direction. What is called ,willy-nilly Horribly maintained, extremely filthy dirty nasty restroom. On a day off ,I picked up 12 ,5 gallon buckets of trash from around the park. Most of it , old trash A city bus comes in every Friday night with the bus of homeless people and turn some loose in the back. Makes it pretty safe. Not saying they’re all bad but it’s not fair to the campers paying for their sites. Enjoy With proper management that could be one of the prettiest parks in the state. But that’s not gonna happen when their boss is sitting in a hotel in uniform for this last week. I clearly know who he is and I took a picture of him at 9:30 in the morning on a workday in uniform, he was with a woman that had just had surgery. I saw him yesterday carrying a cat into the hotel, I don’t know what you’re doing Neil ? But you are supposed to be on the job Now I understand why they cannot keep volunteers"

"We just got here to the campground....All we can say is we are quite impressed! The office people are soooo friendly and go up and above to be accomadating, Prices are so cheap per night ( $25 for full hookups and $20 for water and electric sites) . Our site is so spacious which is great and the VIEWS from our RV are panoramic and Amazing of the beautiful lake!! It is so quiet here, which is so refreshing! You can hear traffic noise very lightly in the distance. Towns are close by in case you need to grab anything. Facilities are nice too. Only downfall that we see so far is they don't have Laundry here, so we will have to go yo town to do that. All in all we think it's going you be a great stay!!!"

"Great campsite by the lake. Cost $20/nt include electricity. Bathroom is very roomy and clean including shower. There’s a beach you can launch your watercraft. First come first serve as far as I can tell. Very quiet and peaceful even for a Saturday night camping."
