"The best part of Big Bend that we saw on our New Years 2021 trip. (We never even got into the Chisos Basin, too busy didn't want to wait in a line for more than an hour.) This hike isn't too strenuous, but even in December it was warm. Had young buck join us on the trail for a bit and had fall colors. Thankful that we had a truck to get to the trailhead, but also saw CRV and subarus parked there."

"Transitions from desert to forest views. First 3/4 of the trail are a gradual climb, the last 1/4 the grade increases significantly. Beautiful canyon views along the way. Take plenty of water. 4 miles round trip."

"This was our highlight of our trip to Big Bend. The road to the trail was bumpy but very easy in a 4x4 truck. We didn't quite make it to the end of the trail as the sun was going down and our kids were getting cold. Fantastic views. Very light traffic. Strongly recommend."
