"We have been seeing Dr. Hutson for over a year and a half now for our son. From the beginning, her office staff was aware that we had insurance , but Dr. Hutson was not in network and that we would be paying cash for our visits. Every single time we came in, they would ask for our insurance card and I would simply tell them, "You don't take our insurance, so we will be cash pay." There has NEVER been an issue with this. Yesterday, my wife went in for an appointment and the office staff insisted on seeing our insurance card and then refused her service because we have insurance. When I called to address the issue, the first thing they told me was, "It's because you have Medicaid and we don't accept Medicaid." When I explained that we don't have Medicaid, I was transferred to a different person. When I told them we don't have Medicaid, that we have an ACA insurance plan, she circled around for a different excuse. She said, "Insurance laws won't allow us to take cash pay if you have insurance." Which is an outright LIE. After I explained to her that I work in the insurance industry and that I knew there is NOTHING in the insurance laws that state that, she finally just said, "It's our choice to accept cash or not." For over a year and a half they accepted cash, knowing full well we had an insurance plan that they were out-of-network on! My son even had a 6 month check up about a month ago and I told them the same thing I always tell them when we walk in "You don't take our insurance so we will be paying cash." I left a message for Cindy to call me and help me understand what changed that her staff is suddenly refusing service, but I doubt she even got the message. Cindy has been an amazing doctor, but her staff needs to learn how to treat clients better. Yes, doctors have the right to refuse cash pay if you hold an actual insurance card (although I've NEVER met a doctor that refuses cash in any situation), but it hasn't been an issue for over a year and a half, so why now?"

"My wife first went to see Dr Hutson and I have now joined her as a patient. We've received top notch care and everything is available on-line. No problems getting an appointment and can walk in for bloodwork."
