Mission Taco Joint - Kirkwood

"We went here as plant based looking for good choices. Both the vegan taco and the mushroom taco were both delicious. I have now changed my rating since their new salad is delicious. . I liked the corn tortilla. Both tacos had some spice and were very tasty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Note - this has become our go-to restaurant for the last 9 months. They were nice enough to swap a corn tortilla into the Veggie taco. Black beans were very tasty. They have two salsas, the mild one is delicious, the hot one is a bit too hot for my taste. I usually start with guacamole which is good. The churros look delicious, but I'm always too full."

"This location missed the mark on food and service. All the tacos were cold and just not as tasty as at the Soulard location. Even the salsa didn’t seem to hit as hard as the soulard location. Service was pretty slow and there were only like 8 other customers in the restaurant at the time. I couldn’t imagine if they were busy. Came in with a group of 7 people. Mentioned we needed separate checks up front and the waitress said sure. We get to end and she has to go back and do separate checks and mixes up everything we ordered on different checks. We hand our checks with cards to the waitress and the cards come back with different bills being charged to them. I get it, it’s a bigger table of people, but I have never had my card come back with a totally different receipt than I handed in with my card. I would go somewhere else if you are eating with a bunch of people."

"Service was decent. Food was decent. They were out of certain menu items which I find annoying, especially when it's not mentioned until you're trying to order those items. Lots of unattended kids running all over the place at this location. Unfortunately this location won't be my first choice next time."

"My husband and I became Mission Taco fans (we first discovered the Soulard location) back in 2021 when we visited St. Louis for a few days. It was literally the highlight of our trip. This time around, we were driving past St. Louis to the Ozarks for a family vacation and I wanted a place to stop for a couple hours so our 6 year old could burn off some energy. I did some research on the towns right off the freeway and that’s how I came across Kirkwood - a cute historic suburb with a big park, a walkable downtown, a children’s museum and the cherry on top - Mission Taco. The margaritas are on point and the food.. so good! My husband and I ordered the tacos; I got the carne molida and mushroom which were both delicious, and my husband got the steak and BLT tacos. Again, delicious. I took a bite of the BLT and told myself the next time we’re in the area, I’ll be getting that one too! The service was also really good, and i love how family friendly it is. Needless to say, Mission Taco is a destination for us now when we’re heading South AND when we’re heading back North to Chicago. Thank you guys for the delicious food, drinks, and excellent service! "Absolutely unparalleled flavors!! Loved every bite and I definitely over ate lol. It's also a really fun place to take the kids; there's a cool arcade in the back with all types of arcade games. Waiters/waitresses are also very kind and welcoming, and gave us some really good suggestions! Overall, definitely a restaurant to go to, and perfect for any occasion!"
